Moms coming to a Kroger near you

I am a staunch supporter of the 2nd Amendment and the right to own and carry a firearm, but I disagree with all this open carry inside a business. Why would someone do this when they can conceal carry? Is one trying to make a point? If so, I think the damage they do to people that think as I and us as gun owners and sportsmen do is creating more of a negative public perception and increases anti-gun rhetoric.

If this keeps up, in the end the liberals will probably win in some court somewhere and it will end up costing us all. Look at the recent California anti-gun legislation(s). Other states are doing the same sorts of things to limit gun ownership and use.

If you keep rubbing peoples noses in your rights, they might eventually rub back and I don't think any of us will like the outcome. All I personally ask for is that people to use a little common sense and do away with all the macho bravado, bad boy image they are trying to project. It does nothing for our cause and the preservation of our rights.

Remember, "Walk softly and carry a big stick" but don't necessarily show it.

You are painting ALL OCers with quite the broad brush. I suggest you try reading opencarry.org. My take is they just want to be left alone.

*I* don't agree with 'XXX', so *no one* should do/have 'XXX'? Quite the supporter of our rights.

And appeasement has worked so brilliantly in the past.

Kroger stores don't care if you carry your dollars in a wallet holster, a hip holster or an ankle holster....

Just as long as it shores up the bottom line. ;)

When we became a "Shall Issue" state in 2011, there was a huge backlash from the gun haters. The NRA had so totally out-maneuvered the gun haters the legislation was signed sealed and delivered before they woke up. During the local uproar, a local supermarket company posted 'No Guns' signs in their dozen stores. They are now in deep financial trouble and have closed several stores.

Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not!

I disagree. We should be able to carry as we please. I chose to conceal, but I'm not constantly afraid that someone is going to see my pistol either.

The point they're trying to make is that they have an inalienable right to carry a gun. I'm a firm believer that our children should see us carrying and exercising our rights.

For those that choose to open carry, right on!

Well said. :)

There are states with folks still fighting for OC rights. Gun owners hiding under the bed isn't the path to successfully defeat Bloomberg and his gaggle of nags, though I'm sure they would appreciate all the appeasement gun owners are willing to offer. Appeasement is seen by these people as simply the next starting line for more gun restrictions.

Moms Demand Action is going after Kroger now. Hopefully, Kroger will stand firm in their policy to follow state law. Whole Foods has recently posted legal signage here in Texas as response to the open carry issue.

Open-Carry Fight Is Set to Hit Kroger - WSJ

Seems particularly ironic, given the brutal attack by a mob of teens on a customer and two employees this past Saturday at a Kroger in Memphis: Three attacked by teens in store parking lot | WREG.com

Are these moms ready to reap what they sow?

Not everyone is into appeasement ;)
