moon clips in a 627, 8 shot 357

I've seen moon clips for use in a 627, 8 shot .357. Do they require the cylinder to be cut?

They require a "cut" cylinder/extractor. Not all 627/327's are cut for full moons from the factory. Depends on model.

The only ones factory cut I've seen were the PC and Pro series.

My 8 shot TRR-8 came cut for the clips and had 3 included. They make reloads really fast I found.

S&W makes both Ti & SS 627/327, 8 shot, 357 mag/38 spec cylinders factory cut for moon clips. Some models come with cut cylinders, some don't.

That I can't say for sure. I had a Ti moon clip cut cylinder fitted to my PC 627-5 (and other work, by S&W) and my "take out" cylinder and star (extractor) would not go back in. Headspace and barrel/cyl gap were both too wrong to accomodate.

Yhanks for the insight. I had contemplated sending my 627 to S&W for a Ti cylinder. I hoped that they would be interchangeable.
