What are the best moon clips for the 327 TRR8? I'm currently shopping around and looking for options suitable for quick reloads and possibly for competition in the future. Thanks!
Assuming you are using them for 38/357, keep in mind, not all cases are the same and you may need to experiment with various thicknesses for the cases you use.
I've had good luck with the revolver supply company for moonclips needs
In my 627 I'm using Ranch Products full moon clips with Winchester wadcutter brass.
This combo is giving me a snug fit and very little wobble.
Federal brass is a little looser and Remington is the loosest with the most wobble.
I have bought 8 shot and 7 shot moon clips for several S&W revolvers. My favorites a from Speed Beez. They work well and are generally cheaper. I have purchased ones from TK Custom and Revolver Supply. They have all worked well too. One thing to note is, with some cheaper brands of ammunition the thickness of the moonclip can be an issue. I shoot American Eagle 357 Magnum and have not had an issue with any purchased moon clip. The ones that came with the revolver were not very good. The rounds were hard insert the last round was a bear to insert. There is a chart (I think from TK Custom website) that cross references the ammunition brand and thickness of moon clip that are compatible. For 357 I like the BMT mooner the best. The TK Custom mooner tool is excellent also. For the TK Mooner you can buy 1 tool and several mandrels for loading 45acp and 7 or 8 shot 357. Flambeau makes a small clear sided tackle box #4007 with 12 dividers that will hold 24 loaded moon clips. It fits inside my range bag and holds all 3 sizes equally.
I like the Ranch products 8 shot moonclips for the 627/327's. They fit starline brass and Winchester, perfectly.
I don't remember how many years ago I purchased mine- but I'm using the same clips.
