I just picked up a S&W 25-2 and I am wondering which moon clips should I get. I see the different brands are about the same price, but which are the best to use.
Thanks

Some people like the plastic Rimz brand as they are easy to load and unload.

I have few revolvers that require moon clips. I would go with the cheapest steel ones you can find. Some people like the plastic Rimz brand as they are easy to load and unload.

Keep an eye on the big auction websites and you be able to find them for pretty cheap. I just picked some up for less than .50 cents a piece after shipping.

For rimless ammo like .45 ACP, most clips will work fine. Last time I checked, Ranch Products had them for $40 per 100.

For rimmed ammo like .38 Special or Short Colt, you need the good quality ones from TK Custom that are fitted to your specific brand of brass. Those are around $6 - 7 each.

Steve-In answer to your question, it depends on how much you want to shoot and how convenient you want your loads to be. I have both RIMZ polycarbonate and TK Custom steel. Buy some of each and then go to the range. I’d use the steel if I was going to be doing speed reloads in competition. If I want a pleasant day at the range, the RIMZ are pretty easy to use. Just my opinion.

for a range day of fun... Poly Rimz... they are just plain easy... no mooner or demooner required... for competition or carry... use steel... and I have heard good things about TK... I just got a pocket full of no name steel at a gunshow... but they were 5/dollar closeout... buy or make a demooner tool... saves your hands from pain... oh... buy lots of ammo... you WILL go thru it faster now...

Thanks for the advice. I'll be shooting bullseye so speed loading is not important. I'll be getting some poly-rimz and steel.
Thanks again.

STEVE, AS A FELLOW BULLSEYE SHOOTER (REVOLVER AND CMP DISTINGUISHED & P100) DON'T HESITATE TO CONTACT TOM AT TK CUSTOMS AKA MOONCLIPS.COM. HE HAS DIFFERENT THICKNESS ON HIS CLIPS FOR DIFFERENT BRANDS OF BRASS. IT DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE. HE WILL ADVISE YOU CORRECTLY. JP
