Has anyone tried to file down the opening of a moon clip so that it can be loaded/unloaded easily by hand? If so, what are the potential problems?

Haven't tried filing, but the obvious downside is: If you can pop out the empties ( or loaded rounds) with your fingers, they will also pop out when you drop them and also probably when they are bouncing around in your pocket or range bag..Just a thought. GB

Invest in a mooner and de-mooner. You are just asking for problems and jams if you file down a moonclip.

That sounds like a good way to really cut your fingers, as opposed to the small gouges I get from moons. They are not hard to load with rounds but I must have a tool to unload.

Plus one. Easy on easy off, multiple collets available for different calibers. Well thought out and well made.

I don't have any trouble loading the 940 moonclips by hand and I just use a pencil to pop them out.

I've seen the polymer moonclips and they look interesting but they don't make them for the 5 shot 9mm.

I use the RIMZ clips exclusively in my 1917, 25-2, 625-8, 610-3 and my 646. No hassle with tools, no hassle with bent clips, no hassle with rusted clips and no hassle with forgetting tools and spoiling my range time. Keeps it simple!

I am also an enthusiastic supporter of the RIMZ clips for my 625's.

I am also an enthusiastic supporter of Auto Rim cases where appropriate.
