Moonclips

First of all, is good to be back! Have been recovering from spinal surgery. I've purchased a 625-8 JM and am having problems with some of the moonclips. My question is if there's a way to straighten or true one, if it's bent?

I expect so, but I doubt it would be worth the trouble. Never bent one that badly myself.

I have a 625 JM. The S&W clips work great in mine. I got a batch from ebay, that don't. (came w/ de-mooner tool) RIMZ polymer clips work great, and require no tools. I purchased more of them. Some clips, are just too thick, and cause binding. That is what happened to me. Bob

If finances dictate, try to straighten or get some of the RIMZ. However, you're shooting a .45 cal so money is probably not the biggest concern. Not sure why you would want to waste your time straightening them. They are not that expensive. Contact Ranch Products directly. You have to send in a money order and it's a little bit of a hassle, but in bulk, that's the cheapest way to get moonclips and for what it's worth, they work very well in my 625PC. I also got some for my 940 from them and the work well also.

My local pistol range is asphalt and over the years I have ejected countless .45 ACP moonclips (often containing a few rounds of loaded ammo) onto said asphalt and this practice has never resulted in a single damaged moonclip. Over the years at the matches I have suffered one and maybe two bent moonclips that were damaged to the point where they were they would bind the cylinder during use. I can only guess that somebody very heavy had stepped on them. In my opinion trying to save these bent moonclips is not worth your time or effort. But if you insist, the arms can be individually bent in a vise and the clip tested to see if it is true on a hard, flat surface. This is what I do the the 9mm moonclips for my 940, which had suffered terrible abuse before I bought them.
