I don't understand how/why they would be on TV and not all get arrested. Of course I don't watch it but the thought came to my mind that it seems a little odd.

I have never seen a show more ridiculously contrived than that one. Pro wrestling is less scripted.

I think the Moonshiner show is stupid and doesn't have any bearing on reality; watched about 15 minutes of it and never tuned in again.

The gator hunter show also has subtitles. My wife is from New Orleans so I had to give her a hard time, "They have to use subtitles so viewers will know what your people are saying!" She didn't find it as humorous as I did....

It's an overflowing crock. Like most of this kind of faux-redneck sewage it's completely unworthy of anybody's time and unfairly portrays a whole area of the country.
I'm fortunate in that I've never seen an episode of "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo". The promos and publicity **** are enough to nauseate me.

Well.. the show does have a few facts.. but most of it is hidden with all the fluff on the show.
They need to show more "real world" about the history and true details of making liquor.

And now we have "The legend of Shelby the Swamp Man"! Legend? Really? Ice Road Truckers, Honey Boo Boo, Ax Men, Gator Hunter; I agree with Shouldazagged...this type of mindless, contrived drivel is a slap in the face to whole segments of the population. I can proudly say I've never been hard up enough for something to do that I've ever watched more than 5 minutes of this ****
I would rather have my teeth cleaned than watch that show but on this subject I could recommend a good movie that is based on true events. If you are interested in "moonshiners" and/or that culture in America check out "Lawless" It's a real eye opener....
Not at all. These shows are relatively cheap to produce because there are no real actors on them. A few years ago the rage was prime time game shows, not it's this. Whatever comes next will only be worse I fear.
They are all ridiculously contrived. The drama is all made up, because in reality work is mostly boring. Every reality show ever made had some contrived material. "Cops" used to re-enact scenes to make them more dramatic. They probably still do, but I stopped watching it years ago. How many drunks engaged in domestic disputes do you have watch before you realize they are all the same? How many big arrests of someone with a small bag of Marijuana can you watch.
About the only one I can still watch is "Deadliest Catch", and that's starting to get old.
The businessmen portrayed on all of these shows have to be the worst ever. "If xxxxx doesn't get this job done on time, he'll have to close his business and lay off all of his staff." If he's that close to going under all the time, he doesn't know what the hell he's doing anyway and the world will be better off if he's flipping burgers somewhere.
If you are going watch any of them, watch them for whatever entertainment value they might have. Don't expect them to be anything like real life.
Maybe someone should start a catch all "Reality shows are mostly fake" thread. Then we could entertain ourselves by bashing all of the really bad shows out there.
Then we can start our own reality show!

I watched a little bit of the show and understood every word that was spoken. 'Course, it's set in a county about three east of me, about 75 miles away.
You really don't want to know.
But it's more mindless drivel that deserves to be deep sixed ASAP.gdnagle

Don't watch any of the reality shows, it limits what I can watch though as that seems to be all that's on nowadays. Why pay idiots to be on TV hardly anything beliveable. If I watch anything with subtitles it'll be on Military Channel, Nat Geo, Discovery Channel, at least they have a lot of real reality.
