More Bad Press for Sig Sauer's M18 Handgun

Now the military is getting involved with the controversy surrounding the Sig P320/M18. This inadvertent discharge and death of an Airman is still being investigated.

New Hampshire Public Radio has been reporting on the numerous cases of military personnel shot and the uncommanded discharges for an extended period:

On military bases from Virginia to the Middle East, pistols made by NH-based Sig Sauer have unintentionally fired, seriously wounding soldiers in some instances.

The fatal shooting at FE Warren in Wyoming is the first fatal case in the U.S. military linked to the P320/M17/M18. Hopefully there will be no more.

I saw a post that Kirkland Air Force Base main gate had a single NCO with an old M9 and the rest of the gate guard using M4s this morning. That is consistent with the Global Strike Command directives to cease M17/18 use.

For those not aware, Kirkland’s main gate processes normal base traffic plus the National Lab employees. 10,000 vehicles a day.
