Mortality

Heart attacks...had two so far and now wear 9 stents, there was a third minor one, but the hour and a half trips from Ogdensburg to Syracuse are my least favorite parts of it all...couple of days in hospital then SWMBO gets to drive me back home. Been 5 years since the last scare and I'm NOT looking for another one. Hang in there, and take life easy.

Prayers en route
Same thing happened to my little sister. She never got her ejection fraction above 29. She had a defibrillator installed. Has saved her 2-3 times in as many years

Yes, I have said a prayer for you. But I would also like to tell you about
my experience. About 25 years ago, I had a pulmonary embolism go to
my lung, and my heart stopped several times. I think they called them
myocardial infarctions, which is just high priced name for heart stoppages.

It stopped once at home. Went to ER and it stopped once there. Went
on to Intensive Care and it stopped a few more times. It was a scary
episode for sure, but the main thing I remember was an overwhelming
feeling of peace. It was as if I didn't really care if I came back or not.

They put a Greenfield filter in my Vena Cava to catch any blood clots
coming up from my lower extremities. But one got ahead of them, so
they had to go down through my neck and put another filter at the
top of the Vena Cava.

That and Cumadin, to keep my blood thin, has kept me going. I am
85 now. I was about 60 back when that happened.

I was often asked if I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. My answer
(jokingly) was that I saw a guy in his red long handled underwear, holding
a pitchfork, standing by a little campfire.

There was a lot of heavy-duty prayers on my behalf, which I believe was
answered and that's where the peace and comfort came from.

I have had a few more of those little bumps in the road since then, and
consequently have an implanted defibrillator/pacemaker.

I hope all of the prayers coming your way will help you receive that
peace and comfort that I did. Take it from someone who has been
there, the other side isn't that bad.

Doug, our continued prayers are being sent to you for a quick and complete recovery. Do what your health care staff tells you and hang in there. Better times are coming.

You got it Shipmate. Prayers for you and your loved ones. You'll Have to make lots of changes to your life style but you will pull through; you're going to make it.
The good Lord watches over good people.

If your extraction factor doesn't go up and you need a internal defibrillator, it's not that bad. My heart could stop at anytime and I'll be dead. That device will keep your ticker ticking. Glad you made it through. Follow through on your rehab and get well soon.
