I am thinking about buying another pistol since 9mm bulk ammo is so easy to find and pretty cheap to boot. Can find it locally for $69 per 250 round bulk pack.
Of the CURRENT models being built by S&W which is most likely the most accurate? Like to hear from people who actually own one instead of second hand information.

And spare the lectures about reloading as I have zero desire to chase 9mm brass. I reload for every caliber I own except for 380 and 9mm and am not going to start now.

I am pretty happy with my M&P 9mm FS. Haven't had it for a long while but it is pretty accurate. I am unable to provide any details of what BY REPUTATION is THE most accurate Smith and Wesson (but it is the Model 952) as I do not own one as is your requirement for this post. But, as I said, by reputation, it is the 952.

Isn't the 952 out of production? I must apologize for suggesting a gun that I have never shot, but I have shot several 9mm 1911's and like them a lot, Smith makes one if you're brand sensitive.

The most accurate 9mm?

Probably a Freedom Arms 357 magnum with a 9mm cylinder.

Another possibility is the new 9mm N Frame, M929

Restricting this to current manufactured S&Ws narrows the field

The M&P family is fairly accurate. I have two at the moment and will be adding a third.

If I were in your shoes, I would pick up a 5" M&P Pro.

My bad, should of made my post clearer as I was asking about any of the currently produced semi auto S&W's

Had a 952, that wasn't the answer.
My money is on this one:
SW1911 Pro Series.

I have the .45 version, and if that one is any indicator, the 9mm one should be close.

Too bad you are limiting yourself to just S&W handguns.

I have a buddy who is heavy into Thompson Center Contenders. He has a 14 inch bull barrel 9mm with an 12x scope mounted. I tried it on my frame, with his hand loads. Who would have thought a 9mm could shoot 1 inch groups at 100 yards?

You’re trying to attain best 9mm accuracy in an unworkable manner. Winchester and Remington $69 for 250 bulk 115 grain FMJ 9mm reduces your potential accuracy more than pistol choice. At least as it was manufactured 10 years ago Wolff steel cased 115 grain FMJ cut their groups by more than half in all my 9mm pistols. I haven’t compared fresher 9mm since I took advantage of $84 per 1000 OTD. Stocking up turned out to be one of my better choices. I’ll bet the difference in accuracy hasn’t changed. However Wolff isn’t perfect. You must start with a completely dry chamber. Even the slightest amount of oil causes the crud Wolff leaves behind to stick then jams follow.

I’ve not fired any of the 9 mm automatics S&W currently manufactures. The most accurate S&W 9 mm that I’ve fired was a friend’s single action Performance Center PPC pistol based on the double stack 5906 frame.

I was real pleased with the accuracy of my M&P 9mm Pro. It was a competition pistol and has the FSS and RAM kit from Apex. Reliability was excellent with everything from reloads to upper end factory ammo. Showed a preference for 124gr bullets.

When you google it the S&W model 6906 is the most accurate "straight from the box" weapon produced - - - I own several and students put them thru the wringer and with minimum care they all preform flawlessly and they are much more accurate than most shooters.

In rapid fire I feel the 5906 is slightly more accurate due to the extra 2# helping absorb recoil. But that is with 65 year old hands holding.

Accurate 9 MM Handguns

Let me start by saying that I like S & W handguns. I have 3 right now, a bodyguard 380, a 9 MM shield and a M & P 9C. I like the controls, the weight etc. They are not the most accurate guns being sold right now, in my opinion. A few years ago I was issued a SIG I believe that the # was 229. It put the bullets in one hole if you did your job. The down size is that the gun was too large and cut my suit coat linings up. I returned it to the department and replaced it at that time with a Smith. I have also been issued several Glock's over the years. The full size ones feel like a brick in your hand but the are accurate. The down side to them, no safety. Above is my opinion only

Maybe I should expand my search to include other brands of semi's as well and keep the street price at no more than $1,000.

I've got a pair of SIG X-5's. Even with bulk ammo they are far more accurate than any of my Smith, SIG or my BHP standard autos. Feed them quality ammo and they are VERY accurate.

Another current truly accurate nine would be a 1911 from one of the better builders. A friend has a Wilson full size in 9mm and it's nearlt X-5 accurate.

A cheap accuracy upgrade would be better AMMO.

I have several Sig P series pistols and they are all accurate and easy to take down and maintain. My carry pistol is a Sig P228 and my home defense pistols are a pair of Sig P226's one in 9mm and the other is 40 S&W. I also have the 357 Sig barrels for both of my P239 40 S&W and My P226 the 40 S&W.

Sig P228 9mm

Sig P226 9mm

I had an M&P pro 9 that would give one big hole out to 25 yds and I would recommend it. If you don't mind polymer it was a great gun, I sold it because I like metal more.

However, I would question the idea of a 'most accurate' handgun. Sure some might have design features that improve their accuracy from a bench but the majority of the guns are more accurate than the average person is. Definitely go and try them out, see how they feel of course because I think the guns that are very accurate for any given shooter are the ones that they hold comfortably and give them a good sight picture. That's why I think the M&P was so accurate for me, it felt good in my hand (I like fullsized) and the sight picture was very good for me.

My most accurate 9mm is my P08 though, get one of those!

I pretty much like my M&P Pro. I may pick up a Pro 5".

But, I fired a friend's Sig P210 and I was absolutely astounded. I have been shooting a lot of years, attending a lot of private schools but I have never been able to shoot as well as i did with that P210.

But, they are "pricey"

The S&W 952 target pistol is legendary.

My most accurate 9MM-barely edging my Browning High Power target, is the S&W Pro Series 1911 9MM. Superb trigger and locks tighter than a bank vault. Sold my CZ-75 after shooting the Pro.

That's a really nice looking pistol you have there!
