Once the learned people here turned me onto Mothers I did my 640 and it looks fantastic. If it did that good a job on the revolver why not the CS9.It also looks great, although The Chief's Special markings faded. You can now tell it is two toned and I know what model it is anyway.Once my Detective Special comes home from the Colt Spa I will be posting pics Shine, stag grips and all........Mike

Very nice polish work, handsome grips, excellent photo effort. Nice collection there. Obviously, you dislike stainless. Don

BLING!

+1 for all the positive comments posted by the other guys. Very nice work, beautiful collection, and some fine camera work.

Chris

Guys, thanks for the kind comments.

Im always trying to improve my photo skills, even with my dinosaur 10 yds old Fuji S5100. Just my kitchen top, a place matt and some natural light.

My other weakness... Colt D snubs and 1911's.

First they see a can of Mothers, then they buy it, then they sit and look at it and then, well the results speak for themselves. Nice herd-O-guns ya got there.

"What have I done?"

You've cleaned your guns. Now ,go shoot em'and dirty em'up again.
That's how it's done.
Lots of 38s and trigger time ,that's what you need. Too much time on your hands.

Regards! Allen Frame

I also have started polishing my 640-1 with MMP and it already looks great. I plan to keep on working on it until it becomes mirror-like. I also have started working on a 686P, but its one of the newer ones (with a lock - uggh) with the laser engraving so I'm being careful not to polish that out. I also wonder about using a Dremel tool with a polishing pad...do you guys know if that would work or would it be too much? B

bassoneer,

I believe using a Dremel tool in not a good idea...

Your best bet is a cotton rag and lots of elbow grease.

The trick here is to prepare the surface before the final polish. I used 600 grit sand paper to smooth/clean scratches, nicks and rust spots. Then 1000 followed with 1200 grit to smooth the whole gun. Always work the sandpaper in the grain direction and use plenty of oil.

Good looking guns. I also enjoy polishing my stainless guns and I like the final results. I recently bought a new 625-8 that came with the matte finish which I do not like and I polished it bright after the first six shots.
