Hello All:
A little help would be appreciated. I have a S&W M&P 15 with the classic standard handguard. I want to replace it with a quad rail. I bought a cheap quad (Guide Gear at Sportsman's) and gave it a shot. It seems the ring that holds the original handguard does not fit the shape of the quad rail. This also seems the case for the ring at the front of the rifle attached at the front sight -the shape is not right. So, am I out the $50 I spent on the quad rail or is there a way to make this happen?

(I also won a sling at a FNRA dinner and found it does not fit -the sling swivels do not fit around the thick sling mounting rings on the rifle. Sigh...

Otherwise I am very happy with this better-than-average EBR.

Any help?

The best website for info on ARs is: M4Carbine.net

After spending a lot of time there doing research, I found the best rail for my 15A was a Daniel Defense Omega Rail. No gunsmithing required. Takes about 10 minutes to install. Not cheap, but a quality product.

The factory rails that S&W install on the railed models are made by Troy Industries. I have put Midwest Industries rails on a few before. They usually costs about twice what you spent on yours, but no worries when it comes to fit and finish. It's one of those things where you get what you pay for.
