Just purchased an Ultradot Matchdot red dot sight for my Performance Center M-41. The high front site will not allow the front ring to attach to the rail. This is a new PC M-41 with the molded rail. The tube of the Matchdot lies on the front site. Cannot move it further back. Do I remove the front site or go with taller rings? Would like to hear from others using the Ultradot Matchdot on their new model PC's. Appreciate !!

They recommend one ring placed against the front body of the scope. However, had not considered both rings on front section of tube. Have never seen them set up in that manner, but will give it some study. Appreciate your post.

leinster lad: Tried placing both rings on front of scope. Allows me to move tube back, but lacks stability/support. Going to check at lgs for a riser to place under the provided rings. If not, going to talk with Ultradot to see what there return policy is. I am concerned the short molded weaver rail on the new model PC Model 41's limits tube type red dots. Wish I had studied this more prior to purchase.

Why not acquire and install higher rings? Lots of scope rings available that fit the rail. Even Wally World has them.

A more elegant albeit more expensive solution is to acquire a Clark Custom or Bully barrel designed to properly mount your tube. bob

bob finger: Am going to contact Ultradot and see what there return policy is. Would return the Matchdot for one of their micro red dots. If they do not honor returns on scopes, I had thought about looking for compact riser mounts. They would get the tube above the front sight. A little less expensive than purchasing the higher rings. However, if I can't get my hands on some riser mounts, the higher rings would work. Just need to be sure to get the tube of the red dot above the front sight. Do not want to remove the front sight on a $1600. pistol due to low rings on a red dot, so if Ultradot won't work with me on an exchange, going to go the riser mount or new rings route. Appreciate your post.

The front sight on my 41PC is held in place with what appears to be a very small roll pin. Remove the pin, remove the sight, and put both in a small plastic bag and keep them in the gun's case so they don't get lost.

The front sight is spring loaded and removes easily! Start at the muzzle and with your thumb press the sight to the rear. When it starts to move lift up. Reinstallation is a reversal of the process.

Heard back from Ultradot and they are willing to take back the Matchdot in exchange for a Ultradot L/T, plus $40.00. Cost difference between the red dots. Katie at Ultradot was great to work with and made the exchange positive.Great company in which to do business. Had only received the Matchdot on Saturday, so it was not like I had it for weeks and months and then informed them of the problem. Its back in the mail and headed to California. Hope to have the L/T by this weekend. Appreciate everyones input and suggestions. Will post again when I get the L/T mounted and zero'd. Thanks again !!

Great info! I didn't know they could be removed that way, just saw the small pin and made a faulty assumption. :o

Never knew this.

Tried it and yep, spring loaded, no tools required!!!
This is brilliant !!

Thanks heaps for the advice :D

BTW, I run a Burris FastFire III on mine with no (significant) issues.

(sometimes hard to locate the dot when raising the pistol to sight and shoot. But that is just a matter of practise and muscle memory to enable the pistol to come up to the exact same position every time )

( To my eyes, the dot is more of a "star-burst" than a circular dot. I did photograph it, and yes it is infact a circular dot, so just shows that i have a certain amount of astigmatism in my eyes)

( the dot can be hard to see if there is bright light shining over your shoulder / onto the red-dot window )

( I need to press the power / brightness button with my fingernail, i think this will eventually damage it )

I removed the front sight to mount my Matchdot. It's designed to be removed, it's spring loaded, just push it to the rear and pull it out, takes 5 seconds. After shooting awhile like that I decided the balance was too front heavy so I moved both rings back so they grip the front section of the tube only. The rear end of the tube extends almost completely over the rear sight. The tube is now clear of the front sight but I left it off since it is not needed with the dot mounted.

Fullmetaljacket: Thanks for the post. Returned the Ultradot Matchdot and exchanged it for there L/T model. Received it yesterday and took less than a minute to mount. Sits nicely on the rail and does not look out of proportion to the pistol. The Matchdot is an excellent red dot, but did not wish to alter my M-14 or go to the expense of purchasing taller rings or risers. Also, personally it just looked to big mounted on the pistol. Was hoping to get to the range today, but Mathew is creating havoc in the state, so that takes priority. Hope to get out after cleaning up some messes.

I just use one ring on the UD MD2. Against the behind and next to thr body. Works super. I do this on a couple pistols., I only shoot bull eye, very stable for that.
