Prescott would be the best place in Arizona given your parameters. It can be windy in the Spring. If asthma is an issue, Arizona is not a good choice.

We have Clinton, SC that is pronounced 'Clinnon' but sort of all one syllable.

PS Just to say, the way that the weather has been changing for the last years it's hard to predict what the climate will be in ANY region.

Not much help but the states you mentioned would appeal to me also, with Arizona prolly #1. Being a true okie in that I've been here all my life, I admit there's better places but I ended up staying here. Not saying to include Okla in your list but there's worst places I'm sure.

Plus we have the Wanenmacher Gun Show in Tulsa - 11 acres of guns under one roof! Not to mention the Southwest Bunch dinner on the Saturday evening of the gun show.

My oldest son lives SE of Huston by an hour or so. A year ago February, they had several 90 degree days and the humidity is always high! 100-110 and very high humidity in the summer. I would think the humidity and extreme summer heat would rule that area out. Tucson, Arizona is a great place. Low Humidity summer temps very by elevation and low pollen counts. Skiing outside of town year round and good shopping. Much of our family relocated there from the Mid-west in the 70's. Watering your lawn is very expensive, but a gravel lawn is something you can get used to!

The potential for a long term eco-disaster is enormous and the odds of it happening worsen with every year that passes. That's why I suggested living upstream and consequently upwind from Hanford, if the OP were to consider moving to this otherwise beautiful region.

The weather, taxes, gun friendliness, food, and friendliness are fine in southern NM (Las Cruces), but it also gets windy in the spring so dust/allergies might be an issue....

After 30 years living in the Seattle (AKA "Freeattle Taxington") area we had enough!!
We arrived here in Prescott Valley, Arizona on Feb. 29th 2016 and could not be happier!

I am not retired and having owned a construction company for 29 years in Washington, I decided to take a superintendent position with a quality local custom home builder.

Commercial and residential construction is going extremely strong at present time. Most of the new homes are being built by owners from other states, so there is new blood coming in all the time. Plenty of shopping and incredible scenery.

Just my experience. I used to get strip searched at airports while traveling for my work, lived in MINN and had braces on both knees. Retired and my Ortho Doc said either I get BOTH knees replaced or move to AZ. I said, WHY AZ? He said BARAMETRIC PREASURE is very low in that state to put less strain on your joints. I moved and in LESS than 6 months, I threw out the braces and have not worn them in over eight yrs. He said Arizona, not Florida or other places, that is where he will retire also because of arthritis in his hand. Just a word to the wise.

the high plains of new mexico are so very dry, RA hurts less.
but, the heat is awful. one day it hit 109 n i realized that could kill faster than a blizzard.
you never have to oil your guns, n i shoot in my yard, but if you haven't been born here, you won't enjoy the heat.
i came here for low population density n low taxes, but you can do better.

Central Texas, or East, South East Texas. It gets cold in North Texas, it can get way hot here in Houston and coastal Texas, but as hot as it gets here it can be hotter in central Texas during the Summer. The Winters don't last long and are very mild here South of Houston.

Austin can get especially bad. You can stand in a field, light a match, and see no movement of its flame.

We have a couple places like that somewhere near me, where their names are not pronounced like they are spell. For instance, the cities of: Falfurrias and Refugio. They respectfully are, Falfurrias//no rolling of the double r's//and Re Furrio, NOT, re fugio. Weather forecasters and Hispanics say it wrong all the time till corrected.
