Welcome to the forums! Congrats on the purchase and good luck with a fast shipment! The 15/22 is a great platform, fun to shoot and accessorize. Hopefully yours will be flawless when you finally get it!

Mine was ordered about a month ago. The Display model in the store did not have the new flash suppressor. Does anyone know if all newly (within last couple of months)ordered 15-22's will be coming with this new barrel?

It was my understanding that they are still making both. So ordering a new one doesn't guarantee that it will have the threaded barrel.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong about that though.

you should specify which you want really, S&W website has both guns listed at different prices.

I bought a SW mp15 22. I really like the looks and the handling of the gun. So far I have shot over 800 rounds. Every one tells me the remmington shells is what I should use. Though I have had some problems. With every clip I use I will have 2 or 3 miss fires. I have had 3 differant shell casings stay in the gun and with gun trying to load a shell in to the breech. The last time I shot the gun it made alouder noise when it fired. The shell casing was partially out of barrel and the etractor and spring had fell out. I sented it back to SW. Can't wait to get it back I really like shooting.

FFD.Box, I'm surprised that people have told you to use Remmington. Most people around here avoid it like the plague. I have tried a lot of different ammo in mine and have found that Federal ammo feeds the best and has been the most reliable. Very few misfires, decent accuracy and it's relatively inexpensive. When possible I get the 550 bulk boxes from Walmart. Otherwise I try and get champion or lightning. All work well for me and I know others around here will agree. Look around the forums and you'll find this has been discussed many times. :)

Hopefully the gun will work better once you get it back. This seems to be the case for those around here who have had to send theirs in.

any remington rimfire ammo is bad, i have had bad experiences with it for probably the last 15-16 years. being 8 years old and having a shell blow up in your gun isnt a fun experience. i bought a box a few months ago and could literally spin the bullets on top of the case. i would keep away from them.
