I wanted to start this new thread, with some of you guys opinions. I want to start three gun and have a mp 15 t. What upgrades do you think I need to make to have a good competing rifle. And please list if such is compatible. Such as is a cmg single stage trigger compatible or a good switch. Let's hear what you guys think

I'm not a trigger expert....there are some other guys in here who will chime in. Can't go wrong with anything from Geissele.

I dont know what is popular among the 3 gun guys, probably Geissele, but Wilson makes a TTU3G that might be worth considering. Never tried it but I have a TTU which is excellent. They aren't cheap... about half the price of a Sport. But hey, who buys an AR to be thrifty? :D

On another note... someone asked about the new handguard on the 15t if the holes were QD attachment points. Not sure he ever got a definitive answer. Are they?

Having done some 3 gun where the guns are restricted to duty type (or very close to it) firearms, I've got some suggestions.

Your best initial expenditure will be for practice ammunition. I don't know your current ability, but practice against a clock doesn't hurt anyone. You need to concentrate on fundametals, but compressing the times on target acquisition and trigger stroke.

Check youtube for Julie Goloski/Goleb videos and study how she sets up her runs and her coreography of motion. The mantra of competition is thou shallt not waste time. You cannot widget your way to competance.

After that, look at trigger and optics....although optics may be right up there with practice ammo.

I shoot my mp15 A witch is no longer available in 3 gun matches here in fl. All I have done as in up grades is a eotech with 3x mag. A rock island 2 stage trigger and a quad rail. The upgrade that helped the most was the eotech and 3x mag I don't think the trigger was that big a of an improvement it just and quad rail was just a cosmetic change it actually made it heavier. I think the best advice is to go and compete as is then make the changes as you see the need. On the top of the list is a quality optic in my case the eotech and magnifier cost more the what I paid for the carbine it self.

My VTECH II came with a Geissele trigger stock. It is a very nice trigger. I have heard nothing but good about Geissele triggers. When friends pull the trigger on my AR they just pause and say, Wow, that is a nice trigger!
