Have older FS MP-9mm, (build date Feb, 08) (and know that some newer parts will not fit??)
Bought used recently, gun show, from deputy.
He said, and it appears to have had only a couple hundred rounds through it.
Going to do a APEX trigger job, as it really needs help, was thinking of going with the (Apex Tactical M&P Forward Set Sear & Trigger Kit - Polymer (FSS)
I do want a smoother, less take-up, better reset, and a (little lighter) pull.
Trigger pull—will be around (5.5#)—with this kit---this weapon will be used for (nightstand) and OWB carry on the property, does this sound like the way to go??
What else should I consider—from APEX???
All the (other) good stuff—(striker/slide, ect) is back order/out of stock EVERYWHERE—and cannot be had at any price—I check everyday!--(do u have a extra kit for sale??)
Any and all advice will be appreciated—as I know this has been discussed many times—(and I have (TRIED) to figure it out—but now ready to order.

With that old of an M&P, you will have the small (1/16") sear spring. I'd recommend getting a new sear block (when you can find one in stock, G&R Tactical is your best bet). Apex doesn't recommend using the FSS with the small sear spring. Personally, if I was going to only use it for nightstand and property carry, I don't know if I would worry about the trigger. I have a stock trigger in my EDC and it shoots fine. (I do have the FSS in all my competition guns, but nothing in them is stock).

I put the FSS and aluminum trigger kit in my 2009 M&P and love it. I used the light spring since I mostly use it to poke holes in paper; trigger pull measured almost exactly 4.5 pounds. As Bkreutz mentioned, you will need to find an updated sear housing block. G&R shows having some in stock right now, depending if you need the thumb safety or not.

I checked G&R- and they do have the sear housing block in stock, without the TS--here is my dilemma 50.00min order, finding something else I can use-(suggestions) real NOOB--that is in stock is a real challenge!!
How about if I use the
Apex Tactical
M&P Duty / Carry Action Enhancement (DCAEK)
would that be a pretty good upgrade--and fit in my older MP 9mm
thanks Rocky

Projects are fun but can be frustrating. When you add up the value of your time as well as parts and mistakes, sometimes just spending the $500 for a new gun makes more sense, to me anyway.

See if they have the updated slide lock in stock, if not just order a few recoil springs or strikers to get to $50.00

Looks like the slide stock is available as well, that puts you over 50 http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=42427

Fit an APEX RAM (G&R sell them) it will be better than the slide lock with the hump. I don't know if anyone has tried to fit a new slide lock and RAM I guess you would get a double click?

SO--------does that APEX RAM fit in my older MP??? (08)
mine does not have that (hole)--forget what that 2nd hole is called??

This is the SHB compatible with the RAM. It fits in that big hole. If your 08 M&P has this hole it will fit. TS models cannot fit a RAM even if they don't have a TS installed.

Thank you ATF, and many others for your insight/help--as you can tell I'm a real new=be on this!!
I did go to G&R, and get the sear block, you referenced--here is another question about the (RAM)

Are you ready for the Apex RAM? | Apex Tactical Specialties

my MP does NOT have that (frame plug)---it does NOT have a TS
thanks

If you have the square cut outs in your frame it is a TS model regardless of whether the TS is actually fitted.

I may be fast approaching what CB3 has stated---
my MP does have the (small square plugs) on both sides, next to the slide--(I think I had read/learned that from before, and forgot!!
I think I have read that the (Sear Housing Block with PC SEAR NON-TS Models) I purchased without TS can be modified to work---(for the trigger install) I will just have to forget the RAM----correct???????

Yes you cannot fit a RAM if you have square cut outs in the frame and square cut outs mean it's a TS model you need the TS SHB to fit the APEX kit and the new slide stop for an audible reset.

Again thanks ATF--
I believe I have read on this site (somewhere) that the (NON-TS-SHB) can be made to work in my older model----
cause I messed up and got the wrong one--
your thoughts please--or anyone????
I just want to do the trigger job????-----and fit???
The audible reset may have to wait until G&R, gets that slide, striker kit back in!
