So just bought this gun, got home and since it has been a while since I had a gun decided I was going to clean it. Pulled out the book and started reading... step by step. Pulled slide back locked slide in place, pushed down deactivation lever, rotated takedown lever..... now I know you have to mess with your slide since they do tend to get stuck open when new so I laid my gun on my bed and was trying to unstick the slide lock well I was able to get it pressed down to unstick but when I did my gun jammed on my sheet.... 🤦‍♀️ now it wont move at all and not sure how to unjam my gun without having to send it in.... any ideas?!?!?! Would be greatly appreciated!!! Uploaded picture as well.

Mine did the same years ago and sorry forgot how I got it unstuck , it can be done I'm sure someone will held out. You are not the first there should be a thread somewhere on the subject

This looks like a classic case of Shield recoil spring assembly (rsa) displacement. Somehow your rsa has slipped out of position and is blocking the movement of your slide. I have not had this happen with either of my two Shields, so I don't have personal experience un-sticking mine. However, others have written in about it. The trick is to try to get the rsa back into place, so here's an idea off the top of my head: Grab the protruding guide rod with pliers, pull it forward and push it downward. That may create enough slack to allow the rear of the rsa to return to its proper position against the barrel lug. Or it may not. Others who've solved this problem should be along shortly to share their solutions.
Good Luck!

Are you saying it sucked up a bit of your bed sheet and is now jammed?

I've never had an issue removing my slide on my 1.0 Shield. I have had issues reinstalling it due to RSA misalignment. A more forceful slide retraction takes care of it.

Yes it pulled in part of my bed sheet and its jammed up now

OK, I think I understand your problem. Here's something to try...

Place the slide against a hard surface. Press the grip with your weight on it like this:

This should clear the jam. Be careful not to whack your knuckles on the table or whatever hard surface you use.

I think the one thing that folks are forgetting to tell you is that you don't want to push the release down unless you are holding the slide back taking tension off. If you somehow managed to do that in your hand that slide you be coming off in a hurry so hopefully not heading in the direction of something you like. Rastoff's post is probably your best method to get it to release.

I have a Shield that is 6 years old. Assume it is a 1.0 version. Remember slide getting stuck once but don't recall how I freed it.

I have always thought that the design of how the RSA set against the barrel lug was a poor design. It seems to me it should be a more "positive" connection such as a notch or something. It just rests against the lug under tension without much of a hold - does that makes sense?

Anyone else feel that way?

Cut the sheet so only a little is left attached to the gun, then apply flame to burn the sheet, or you will just have to try to force it. Oh, if you use the cut and burn the sheet method, be sure to buy your wife something nice.

So it was the recoil spring assembly that got out of place?

Hope you didn't bring the whole bed (with sheets) into his shop for the repair. ;)

If he did charge you, remember, you're not paying for the fixing, you're paying for the KNOWING how to fix it! :)
