Murphy in the back, the US road trip book is now published.

It looks like you adjusted to driving on the wrong side of the road much quicker than I did.

Our son used his airline miles and hotel points (he travels worldwide for business) and took us to England about 7 years ago. Thankfully I have been driving standard transmissions since age 16, but it was a little strange to shift with my left hand. My son sat in the passenger seat and served as my navigator, the wife sat in the back and prayed.

I tapped the curb twice coming out of Heathrow, but with full concentration I was soon able to keep it between the lines. It took about 3 days where I was having to concentrate so hard on the mechanics of driving that it was really good for my son to tell me where to go ("You are going to take the 2nd exit on this roundabout, and then the 3rd exit on the next one", etc.)

After that 3rd day I was finally able to get my head out of the cockpit, but it was much more difficult than I first anticipated. I still found myself wanting to shift the door handle on the last day of our two week visit. :)

I just sent a suggestion to my daughter that the paperback would be a great Father's Day gift. Looking forward to the read.

I am about halfway through the book I received it yesterday. I highly recommend it!

Thank you. The kind comments are very much appreciated.

And thanks to all those who have downloaded or bought the paperback copy.

While it is published in a very narrow category, Travel/US Travel/Midwest US Travel, Murphy it has been marked as editors pick for the month.

I have no idea how that happened.

I never thought it would get such a reception.
