Any mushroom hunters out there? We have had unseasonably cool weather here for April. The Morels usually come up where I live around the 3rd week of April. I found these last week, had to work for them. As you can see, some of them are hard to spot.
We have black, yellow & grey morels. All delicious, when halved, battered & fried.

Not a mushroom guy. I'd end up picking poisonous ones. BUT I do like looking for ramps, leeks, or just plain wild onions if you will. Normally coincides with spring turkey season here.

If possible;

I try to have a handful of cooked mushrooms on my plate next to my
STEAK !!

They can help out a gravy or cream sauce, chopped up fine to sneak by the mushroom shy people.

Nothing could distract my dad from hunting. Except a patch of Morels or Chanterelles. I swear sometimes he'd get more excited over a good haul of Chanterelles than if he'd killed a buck. If he got both, my mother and he were in heaven. Liver and onions with fresh mushrooms. I usually had some soup on those nights.
