This is a song representing tragedy, to me. Creed's lead singer, Scott Stapp, was rear-ended into the windshield of his vehicle. He suffered a concussion, spinal problems in at least two difficult places, and was in a lot of pain. He said he had become addicted to the pain meds, and suffered from major depression. He loaded a gun, but shot the garage door instead of himself. He later jumped out of a high-rise building and fell 40', but it didn't kill him. He felt he was falling from the grace of God, and his life was taking him down a path to destruction.
I see this in almost all aspects of this song. He started by reaching out for help. His verse, "Maybe six feet ain't so far down", is a warning sign to me thinking about death.
Through all the pains in life, stay on your path to God. Never let these bad decisions of the past or pain keep you away. He showed how easy it is to start walking down the wrong paths in life.
