Must do upgrades for the Shield 9mm

So far I like the sights on my Shield. But they would most likely be the only thing I might change to night sights, or maybe the big dot. I did think about Talon grips but right now I'm not having a problem shooting it.

My Shield (carry daily) has just an Apex sear, grip wrap, Ameriglo-Pro-i-Dot sights. It is easily the most solid carry semi auto I have ever owned.

The only things I've felt the need to do to my Shield are Trijicon HD sights (highly recommended, I put them on my Pro Series as well for consistency) and Talon grips. I don't think the Talons are really necessary from a practical carry perspective, but in sunny Florida the hands get sweaty pretty quick during outdoor practice and the Talons help with that. I may be one of the lucky ones, but the trigger on my Shield is as good as my Apex DCAEK equipped Pro.

The Shield is not a single stack

Anyone who looks at the Shield's mags can see that it's not a True Single-Stack. But... It's not a True Double-Stack either. If it were a Double-Stack, it would hold 10-12 rounds, rather than 7. If you want to be knit-picky about it, call it a Staggered-Column (or Stagger-Stack) pistol.

For discussion purposes, the Shield and G43 are marketed in the Single-Stack category, so why not just let it drop?

The only changes I've made (so far):
1. Add one 7rd mag and 2 8rd. versions.
2. Add a Pearce Grip Extension to one of the 7rd mags.
3. Add a Crimson Trace Laserguard, LG-489 (green).

Unlike some others, I love having the safety so it'll remain untouched. One of the 7rd mags has to remain untouched so the pistol will fit into the Sneaky Pete holster. Now I'm looking for an IWB for it.

If sight snag becomes an issue, I'll look at a changeout there.

In general terms, my Shield is now the primary carry piece and all-around favorite 9mm pistol.

Let's see... 1 Pearce Mag. Extension, 1 Hogue Hand-All Jr. , 1 IWB Holster, 1 OWB holster, 1 4-die set, 4 100rnd ammo cases, 1 cleaning rod tip, 1 snake. That's about it, so far.

Just picked up my first shield 9mm (first firearm purchase as well) and already ordered talon grips, mag lula reloader, and a pearce extension. Whats a good cleaning kit to get? Also, where can i get a few extra 7-8 round mags for a decent price? Cant wait to get out and put some rounds through my new shield!

I just use a small Winchester cleaning kit, Rem gun oil.....nothing fancy.

EDC still stock with 7 rd mag, which is really 8. one in the pipe and 7 in mag.

The Shield is an offset stack

Go get one of your Shield's magazines.
It doesn't matter if you have the 9mm or the .40cal...
Now turn the magazine onto its side so the "round count"
numbers are visable...assuming you have rounds in the magazine
you will clearly see they are offset one to the next...
They are not even close to being one directly on top of the other
as in a true single stack...

So yeah...the Shield is NOT a single stack

Technically it's 1.5 stack, but the capacity is "single". I like the 1.5 design for ease of inserting the mag.

It's not a 1.5 either, to say it's within .5 of a double stack

I bought my Shield 9 last year. After a few months I bought TFO sights, but never installed them. My gun is completely stock, save for a hogue grip I put on.
