I would like to hear from forum members who have installed the Muzzle Brake from True Shot Technologies. The part that came in the mail won't fit the barrel. I tried to test mount it but it would barely go thru, not even halfway through the threaded holes for the allen screw. As it is it will be impossible to properly align it if I force it in which I won't. I don't think I will have to hit it with a hammer or something to fit. Anyone experienced the same thing? I think I will have to return it and ask for a replacement

True Shot doesn't sell a muzzle brake, no matter what they call it on their web site. It is a plain AR flash hider. If you live in a state that bans flash hiders, as Connecticut does, putting one on your rifle is illegal.

Assuming you have a non-threaded barrel, you can pay $75-$100 to have it threaded or you can buy a threaded barrel adapter from TactiCool22.com for $30. Either way, you can then attach any 1/2x28 muzzle brake/compensator you desire. Tactical Solutions makes two designed specifically for .22 LR barrels.

I'd send the one you have back for a refund.

Tur Shot Muzzle Brake

I have rectified the problem with the Muzzle Brake for ad5md.
We just recently switched from cold blue to KG Gunkote for these Muzzle Brakes, and it did indeed affect the fit, the problem will be taken care of for future orders.

As for the "terminology" we use for this product, please be advised that we have not tested it for the ability to hide flash, nor control muzzle climb as you would for a full auto center fire weapon. It is for a .22lr !

Our customers have been very pleased with this product, and they are aware of the fact that it is for making thier 1522s look 'right' when there was nothing at the end of the barrel when they bought thier guns.

I answer all calls I get concerning this, and as for CT., and other states with these so called laws, 1st, we advise all customers to know thier laws in the state they live in, and 2nd, if it comes to it, we will re-name the product...any suggestions ?

How about " Decorative Muzzle Ornament " LOL.

Anyway, we all know that the laws in the liberal states are bizarre at best, and as for "flash hiders", The BATF made them legal nation wide in 2004.

Happy Shooting All,

But states with AW bans, such as Connecticut, supersede the federal ruling. A flash hider is one of the "evil features" that one cannot have on anything post-ban with a pistol grip and removable magazine.

You can call your produce anything you want, but it's still just a plain AR flash hider that is pretty much cosmetic on a .22. :)

Yes, Damon has rectified the problem and I have already received an email notifying me of the shipment via USPS. I admire Damon's quick reply and service to rectify the problem.

I am installing the part as an ornament and not to expect it to work as a flash hider, muzzle brake or so. So, no matter what its called as long as it doesn't violate the law and makes the customer happy..it doesn't matter.

Thank You am5md, if you have any more problems please let me know.

Update.....the replacement part came in yesterday. Test-fitted and it went thru right away...snug and perfect that might not even need the loc-tite but will still do as suggested by Damon in the paper that came with it.

So, it seems that the Gunkote inside was just the issue and now that it has been recitified....both buyer and seller are happy. Thanks for the good service, Damon!

I'm highly interested in this thing but, irregardless of what it's called, does it function as a flash hider? I live in Massachusetts and can't use anything that'll function as a flash hider on my 15-22.

It is illegal in Massachusetts; it's identical to the standard AR flash hider. It's illegal here, too.

There has got to be a way to put a legal muzzle brake on a non threaded barrel. :)

Yes, your threaded barrel adapter is legal here. The only provision is the MB must be permanently attached to the adapter, either by welding or other non-removable method. The illegality here is a bare, threaded barrel. A flash hider, on the other hand, is not legal on a post-ban assault-type firearm.

In my case, I used J-B Weld to mate the MB to your adapter and then filed a slot on the bottom of the barrel for the set screw on the adapter and put a large bead of Blue LocTite on the barrel and on the set screw and tightened down the screw.

For the states that are against muzzle devices.. This one may just comply!

I could get waaay out of line with political comments here.
It's silly how "they" can define a 15-22 .22LR rifle as an assault weapon.
Short rant done.
