I use a Tactical Solutions 2211. It is designed for .22/45 pistol conversions but it is an excellent match for the 15-22. And it does make a noticeable difference. It's attached with one of TactiCool22's barrel adapters. Great combination, BTW.

I tryed a muzzle brake on my 15-22 . It worked ok , but after 300 rounds or so had large amount lead build up in muzzle brake it self. And it was hard to clean out it was stuck in there pretty good . When back to the orgin flash hider

Yes, they can be a pain to clean.
 
Baking them helps in cleaning.. if you have an old toaster oven
