This is my 1,000th post here on the Smith & Wesson Forum, it's also my 7th anniversary as a member on the forum. I've really enjoyed my time here. I hope some of my posts have helped a few folks here, because I know that I've received a great deal of help and information from many members of this forum.
My older brother lurks around the forum a great deal, but does not post. Both he and I have been Smith & Wesson fans since we were kids. I remember when my brother, who was serving as an MP in South Korea in 1967, purchased a 6" S&W Model 28 Highway Patrolman through the PX and had it shipped home. My father, knowing as he did that we had been raised around guns all our lives, turned the Highway Patrolman over a 16 year old me for safe keeping while my brother completed his tour of duty in Korea. I purchased a box of Winchedster .357 Magnum and took the Model 28 to an outdoor range and shot it. Wow!
I was forever hooked on Smith & Wessons.
In 1995, I purchased my first S&W 3rd Generation Automatic, a brand new Model 4013. I kept the box with it which I still have today. The pistol has been shot very little and is still quite lovely. I was thrilled about five years ago to find a Model 4014 in like condition. I call them my Salt & Pepper.

As part of my 1,000th post, I thought I would tell you a little bit about myself. My brother and I were pretty close growing up, but since he was 4 1/2 years older, I was the one always getting beat up. Of course, from his perspective I was no angel. He probably got tired of hearing me scream, "MOM! Jim won't let me . . . . !"

I joined him in the Army in 1969. Here I am in 1970 at my apartment in downtown Saigon (that was in Vietnam for the younger folks here
) while serving with the 1st Signal Brigade (my avatar). I was stationed at the MACV Communications Center (I liked my photos "off duty").

By the early 1970s we were back together, but with school and family obligations, we didn't see each other as often as we would've liked. However, in 1989 we discovered Cowboy Action Shooting and spent the next 5 to 6 years deeply involved with that sport. Here is a photo of us taken in early 1990. I'm the good looking one on the right.

So, now we both live in California, he in Kern County and I in Ventura County. He's mostly into S&W revolvers with a few S&W 3rd Gens. I'm the opposite, mostly into S&W 3rd Gens with a few S&W revolvers. One thing we always agree on is that we'll only own PRE-LOCK S&W revolvers.
Anyway, thanks for the 7 years of good times here on the Smith & Wesson Forum. This forum has some of the best members on the internet. It's not that there aren't disagreements over shooting styles, or favorite pistols, or Army vs. Navy, or whatever, but the folks on this forum seem to always be respectful and appreciative that the heart of it, we're all fans of Smith & Wessons. He's mostly into S&W revolvers with a few S&W 3rd Gens. I'm the opposite, mostly into S&W 3rd Gens with a few S&W revolvers. One thing we always agree on is that we'll only own PRE-LOCK S&W revolvers.
Anyway, thanks for the 7 years of good times here on the Smith & Wesson Forum. This forum has some of the best members on the internet. It's not that there aren't disagreements over shooting styles, or favorite pistols, or Army vs. Navy, or whatever, but the folks on this forum seem to always be respectful and appreciative that the heart of it, we're all fans of Smith & Wessons.
