I bought this Cimarron 1872 Open Top, .44 Special, 5 1/2", Navy Grip, dark blue over brass with one piece walnut stocks in October of last year. I reload .44 Specials for Cowboy Action Shooting and I thought this Open Top was a really unique design. I knew the Cimarron factory action would be hard sprung and that it would have a heavy trigger. I was right. So I promptly shipped it off to Bob Munden to have his Option #1 action job performed, the forcing cone honed, and to have the barrel engraved to permanently mark the revolver as having been worked on by "The Fastest Gun Who Ever Lived." I like watching Munden perform his Impossible Shots on that tv show Wednesday nights on The Outdoor Channel.

I got the Cimmaron back last week. The trigger pull breaks a pound and a half! It's the slickest action I've ever felt. I was very excited to shoot it. I fired it last Friday at my local outdoor range at 7 yards, one handed from a standing position.

I'm very happy with the results!

So at the other end of the spectrum, I also have a new Ruger SR556.

I was able to shoot it today, but only at the indoor range. I fired 30 rounds, standing, offhand at 25 yards, pulling the trigger as fast as I re-acquired my front sight. I think the Ruger SR556 shoots great with the Troy Battle Sights! All rounds inside the ten ring with plenty of x's as well!

I've got all my base covered if the cowboys in black hats come for me or if the zombies attack!

Hey, that is two very nice look'n firearms. The photography is great too.

That's the first of the new Ruger's I've seen other than the company announcement ad.

I like that serial number...."66". That number is very significant around here. (I used to work for Phillips Petroleum and now give tours in Frank Phillips' mansion. "66" is the number of choice.)

MM6MM6 - Your posts are always the complete package: Custom / quality guns and accessories / outstanding pics / great stories.

Thanks for sharing and let us know how shooting that Ruger compares to a non piston AR.

I didn't realize the Ruger had hit the streets yet. Those 2 guns may be worlds apart but I like 'em both!

Very nice, I have wanted to purchase one of the Cimarron revolvers for a long time and just can't decide on which one.

Really like the Open Top!! I used to have a pair in 38Special but I think I NEED one in 44 now!!

Bob was at the first two End of Trails. He was amazing to watch. He shot the match, and did O.K. Was doing action jobs in the evenings.
