My 22/32 Heavy Frame Target

I always wanted one of the older pre WWII .22 revolvers. According to Mr. Jinks this one left the factory February, 1929.

I suppose it's common, but I don't recall seeing those stocks; probably never paid attention. But, I really like that design.

That is a very nice example and I just had to have one too. Mine is from the early to mid 20's but like yours. It seems the pre WW1 and true bekeart models generate the most interest. Nice to have to shoot though. Enjoy

S&W .22/.32

I have a very early one #164xxx It's original but has blueing loss on normal areas. Yours looks less polished than mine.Has it been refinished?

The blue finishes changed over the years. Neither mine nor does th op's gun look to have been refinished. In the teens they had a shinier finish than in the 20's and early 30's. Then in mid 30's they went to shiny blue almost ink black until ww2. After ww2 the finishes were matte but very blue in color until 50's they went back to bright blue again. I would say the 20's and mid 40's were the dullest finishes.

Those grips in Post #1 are the standard target grips that S&W used off and on for their target models for over 20 years. The other style, shared with the Regulation Police models is used on most if not all of the rest. I have had HFTs with both style grips, and although they are popular and classic and all that, I really prefer the RP style to actually shoot. JMHO, YMMV.

22/32 HFT finish

Daddio clears it up. Thinking back, most older S&W's I've seen were of a higher polish,all cals. Great gun to target shoot with. Standard ammo only. Mine dates to pre-1914.
