Just a few months ago, I bought a NIB (old stock)4053. I also had two .40 cal Glocks at the time. I quickly fell so in love with my S&W that I didn't even shoot the Glocks anymore. So I sold them. One good thing you can say about the Glock is that when you pull the trigger, it goes bang. But I just had my 4053 out at the range yesterday and she ran flawless again. This brings her up to 1100 rounds without a hiccup, misfeed, or any other problem. I'd bet my life on this pistol! Thanks, I just wanted to share.

Your 4053 will be the first of many S&W pistols you will own I'm sure. They really are great pistols. However since selling your Glocks you are no longer a member of the Tacticool crowd. You will be shunned for your choice of a pistol that will make you inadaquately armed by tacticool standards. You are surely going to die if you ever have to use that in a fire fight.

Please note that the above is sarcasism and doesn't reflect my true opinion. I just get tired of hearing that if you carry a revolver or something similar to a 3rd gen auto you don't have enough gun.

Welcome to the S&W 40 crowd, I have 6 of the S&W 40s and love every one of them. They most certainly are my go to guns when the SHtF.

Enjoy your 40, it will serve you for a long time to come.

Cheers,
Sam

The best and most reliable guns in the world ar S&W 3rd gen. I cant stand Glock for the simple fact that they are just like a Ford Mustang, EVERYBODY has got one. I dont wanna be like everybody else. But I do love my 4006!

I'm in.

Love 3rd Gen S&Ws, esp. DAO.

Do not now, nor ever have, owned any Glocks despite attempts by their acolytes to get me to shoot them in hopes of converting me. They seem to generally go bang after that BBgun trigger finally releases, and the bullet seems to hit somewhere in a general downrange direction. Big whoop. My 3rd gens do that, with better accuracy, a better trigger and better ergonomics. And they aren't Fugly.

Go easy on us Mustang guys; we drive 'em for the same reason we own Smith and Wessons: reliability, resale value, and FUN!

Nothin' wrong with Glocks, fellas...nothin' at all. I have about half as many of them as I do Smith's, but Smith has 'em covered with variety...

...and one of my Smith's is a 4053...and another is a 4053 pre-rail TSW, and...
