Yesterday my wife and I were in a gun shop so I could pick up some reloading supplies. While we were there, my lovely wife happened upon a pink Crossman air rifle. In short order, she decided it was just the thing for my 5 year old baby girl. This evening, we all went shooting in the back yard. This was my daughter's first time and SHE LOVED IT. As a life-long shooter and hunter I was thrilled. This is a memory that will stay with me forever. I hope the rest of you get to experience this during your lives!

That's great !

My kid started to enjoy the shooting sports at about that age. (Of course they are grown with their own children now, 5 year old grandson shoots with his paw-paw)

That's great! I'm glad my father started me off young and if I have children I'll do the same.

That's wonderful! I was shooting with my dad ever since I could see over the bench. We still shoot together when I go visit.

I'll bet y'all were having a great time! Make sure that you take plenty of pictures though.... it is unbelievable just how fast they grow up. I take lots of pictures, but I just can't seem to remember to break out the video camera.

In true southern vernacular-

It don't git no better 'an that!

I cherish the memories of shooting with my boys.....

Hey SharpshooterOPD: Good for you, your whole family and our country! I snuck out of the hospital for a couple of hours the day my oldest son was born, 29 now, to pick up his first rifle; one of those Browning .22 takedown autos. He's still got it, but he's into Practical rifle now. You can see his and his brother's work at www.guncoat.com. And, oh yeah, his brother, now 27 got the same Browning and the 29 year old's girl and boy got one of those single shot Uncle Henry's the day they were born, cause they insisted I keep the "tradition" alive. I'm going to have to start calling my wife "Patient" instead of "Ann". Good Job Buddy.

I could not resist posting this pic, I guess it is the "proud daddy thing"

The day I took my 5 year old daughter shooting with her new 'pink .22' was, as she describes it as "the best day of my life".
I think it was one of my best too.

I am glad I had a camera that day, I have this picture and her first target on the wall if my home office.

She is now 11 and I just got her a Rossi gallery pump .22. She cannot wait to go to the woods and burn up some rimfire.

Take a kid shooting.

It's nothing more satisfying in my life than shooting with my son.

This was last summer with his new Red Ryder.

That's about the only thing my dad really ever did for me was to start me shooting when I was four or five

My dad started me shooting when I was 6-7. I still have the remington single shot, I think it is a 514. Those were some of the best times I had with my dad.

When I got my first S&W from Montgomery Wards when i was 17. Dad took care of the paperwork (if there was any in 1975) , I paid the $195.00 plus tax.It was a model 19 6" nickel, Still have it also...

Ok, I am rambling

My son just turned 1 a couple weeks ago and I can't wait until I can teach him how to shoot. My dad didn't ever do anything like that with me when I was growing up so I am gonna make it a point to teach my son the things he needs to know in life, first and foremost how to shoot a gun. If you can shoot you can survive. =)

Dads didn't have the time (and/or money) to mess around with kids like we do these days. My Dad was more of a hunter than a shooter. He got me started reasonably safely, but sometimes I wonder why he didn't stress certain things more. He was good on muzzle discipline and being sure of my backstop, but everything else he gave me a pretty easy ride on. Maybe my head was too thick then to get much through.

Kids love to shoot. I have never seen one yet who didn't.
