I got this 586 no dash a year ago and the only one I've seen that looked exactly like it is a the Buffalo Bill Museum in Cody, Wyoming. The only real differences are the gold lettering and the front sight, which doesn't have the red like the other early 586's I've seen. Is there a significance to the gold lettering?

I haven't seen a bunch of 6" 586's with the Patridge front site that yours has, but the gold filled letters were just a common thing people did in the 80's, not factory. It'll come right off with a q-tip and acetone.

I have got to say that you have a good looking rig there! They used to sell a kit (Bonanza Gold) to do that sort of thing. I did a shotgun once YEARS ago. Don't know (remember) what happened to the kit. I have a 4" no dash 586, & 686-3, 6" both are a pleasure to shoot! Enjoy your gun! Bob

Most 586s seem to have red ramp sights, some have a Patridge front sight that was forged with the barrel, and a few have the pinned Patridge front sight. That is one nice gun, looks to have been shot very little.
