My 9mm SHIELD XS is here!

I gave up my wonderful M&P357 Compact, Glock 33, and MDE .380 to end up with this:

A slightly used beauty with the XS Sight standard tritium dot.

Both of those guns were a bit too wide and heavy for me to CCW with my bad back.
My Micro desert Eagle was light but only had 6 shots and .380 power with a slower
reload than the bigger guns.

The SHIELD is much slimmer and lighter than both my M&P Compacts, and two CZ 2075 RAMIs.

It fits my Galco TRITON Glock 26 holster with some adjustment,
and perfectly in my AJ Concealco.

I'm unsure whether I like the new trigger or not.

Same with the sights as these are the first XS sights for me.

Tiny safety really isn't an issue for me, but nice to apply when handling the gun.

I like the 8 round mags the best and will be buying a couple more..
plus a dedicated Kydex SHIELD holster in the near future.


Carry load is Double Tap's excellent 147 grain Gold Dot +P for now.

I sold the 3 guns (and a couple more) for money to remodel the house.

After a month or so..

My wife was so happy that she told me to find a Shield
by any means, as they couldn't get them here locally.

After a quick trip today.. my back is the real winner!

I think the gun could only be better in .357 SIG, but it would
be heavier. Perfect right now.

Don't think you'll ever see a 357 Sig in a Shield. They don't even like the 9+P+ with its pressures over 38,500 PSI. The 357 Sig has an operating pressure of 42,000 PSI.

Just wondering, you had a Glock 33 357 Sig,... and the recoil from the Shield is to much? I've got a 33 myself & it thumps pretty good. I don't understand about how the Shield could be worse.

I see you got one with the crooked label on the side like mine. The "caution-capable of firing with magazine removed". Its a great gun in spite of the little glitch in the angle of the wording. Smith will replace it if you ask.

If you actually sell it for $ 615, then I'll know the Shield feeding frenzy is going strong. I know the 9mm is in high demand, but that much over list, even with night sights, for a used gun?

Nice Shield. Love the XS.

Personal opinion -- don't buy the Doubletap again. Far too many Youtube videos of people running chrono's on it and the numbers in many of them don't even come close to claimed fps. Just not worth the premium price.

Take a look at Underwood Ammo Web Site - Home next time. Cheaper price, more power, your choice of Gold Dot or Golden Saber.

I wouldn't go with +P+ from them in a Shield, tho.

I would try standard pressure 147gr Federal HST or Winchester Ranger T in that pistol. Bet those rounds would be pleasant to shoot and they will perform. Bill

You can handle a glock 33 but the shield 9mm recoil (which is non-existent) is too much ? And you want $615 ?

I bought a shield .40 the day it came out , put TFO's on it , and sold it (with two boxes of hornady doubletap , and a desantis nemesis holster) a few days after I got it for $525. I took a loss , but finally found a glock 29. And mine was brand new , in box , brand new TFO's , brand new ammo , brand new holster .

If anyone pays $615 for this , you need serious help. It's a 3rd hand gun. You can get a shield OTD $420 NEW.

I just got my M&P 9C and the size difference is not huge , I don't know what the OP is getting at here ... His words make no sense.

Shoot something other than 147gr. +P and see how it does.

I shot 147gr. Gold Dot standard pressure through my Shield and the recoil was only slightly more than the standard pressure 115gr. ball ammo from Federal. I also shot 124gr. +P in HST and the PDX-1 and although it had a little more recoil than the 115gr. ball ammo, it wasn't bad at all. I've owned and shot many other slim 9mm offerings out there like the Solo, DB9, PF9, G26, etc and I can honestly say the Shield is the best of the bunch.

The 124gr.+P or standard pressure would also have less recoil than 147gr. +P which is not needed. Honestly, I think it's your choice of ammo that is making it hurt your hand.
