my beliefs on the M&P accuracy issues

This is my 25yrd target from yesterday. These would all still be body mass shots but, it's not as good as what I expect from myself. Last time I qual'd on the M9 at this distance I scored expert and had a MUCH tighter grouping. Not the pistols issue I missed, it's mine.

You might do better with a thinner front sight . Maybe a fiber optic front. See What Dawson Precision has . Old eye ain't very good at best !!

...Now to my point, I believe the main problem with accuracy with the M&P is the heavy trigger pull/trigger break caused by the factory sear design. This causes shooters to pull their shots, which is why people report being able to hold tight groups at 7-10 yards but not at 25, the pull is magnified at longer distances.

Well, a poor trigger (or should I say terrible!) certainly doesn't help anything, but I can manage a bad trigger from a rest, if I have to. I can't say that I think that is the only problem with the M&P9s I have had the chance to use.

To convince myself, I changed out the sear in my 9L with an Apex. It did change the trigger somewhat for the better (lighter, but still a mess), but it had no affect on the groups I could shoot from a rest. Offhand, the Apex sear did make the 9L "more shootable." It is now in my daughter's 9C, which is her "plinker." :)

My present 9FS (newer production) has a considerably better trigger than the 9L did, but accuracy is still not up to snuff. Any Glock 17 I have ever been around will outshoot either.

As a former 1911 shooter, recent M&P convert, the trigger does take some getting used to. As does the striker fire DA only, but at 6.5# from the factory, I didn't expect a match trigger. But its as accurate shot-for-shot as some of the mid-grade 1911s I've used, or a Sig P220. More accurate to me than I could get with a Glock or XD. I figure if the Apex full package gives me a 1911 like trigger (as some claim), with the feed reliability akin to a Sig, quicker return to aim with the lower bore, and comfortable grip ... the $ spent on the trigger is just a happy to glad, not a broken to fixed scenario.

Ruger has been shipping crappy triggers on their 10/22s for decades, and just this year came out with their own drop in solution. Didn't stop us from buying lots of them, and improving the triggers ourselves all these years. And the 10/22 is the market holder in their bracket.

I bought a FS 9 made 6/13 and it shot pretty poorly even at 7 yards. I found an article by Hilton Yam, in it he talked about the new barrels and the clearance between the breach face and the barrel. I measured mine with a plain old feeler gauge and the clearance was far more than the measurement he gave, sent it back to S&W and they replaced the barrel, the result was far tighter groups. For me the trigger had nothing to do with the accuracy problems I was having.
