S130948 is a NIB pre-29 that shipped 8/26/1956 to Richard Conover Hardware Co. in Kansas City, MO. It is not the rarest 44 mag that I own, but certainly the best condition one. The stocks on this example are about as nice as will be found on these early 44 Mags. The serial number is only 10 different from S130938, my earliest .44 which shipped in January of 1956. This is just another example of how you can't really determine the actual age of a S&W unless you get a factory letter.

This is why they are called "cokes"

Chuck,

I've become pretty jaded to images of S&W handguns over the years. Takes a photo of a classic in that condition to get my attention nowadays'.

I'd put that one at another level. Unobtainable comes to mind. Because they just do not get any better then that example.

Kudo's to you, kid....

Guess my Best .44 Magnum is not a S&W. I own one of the original Abilene's. Not the same league as the S&W Model 44 Magnums. But still my favorite gun....

What an outstanding example. Thank for the look.
