My Bodyguard Experience

trigger pull on mine was so long and hard that by the time it fired I forgot what I was shooting at. Threw it in the river rather than passing it on to some other poor soul.

What river? Sounds like a perfectly good waste of money.

I fully understand others frustrations with the pistol. Small, thin trigger with a long and heavy pull on a gun with a thin frame and very small grip. It's a challenging gun to shoot.

The whole point of this thread was to show others you can take a factory pistol and modify it to work for you. I went from not being able to shoot mine well, to being very happy with it after modification.

Precisely why I bought the model without the laser. I did not care for the look of the gun with the built-in laser, and I've heard more than a few people have issues with them.

those have pretty much all been resolved. the original bodyguards had the insight laser, which had a really cheesy switch mechanism. gun cleaning solvents dissolved the adhesive which held the switch together, coupled with an odd button configuration which created other issues. S&W switched to Crimson Trace lasers which redesigned the switch mechanism eliminating the negative issues with the insight lasers. S&W also has been offering the CT laser to early bg owners who have issues. My bg380 had the insight laser which quickly went bad, and they sent me the new Crimson Trace laser free of charge to replace it. I've had it about a year now and have had no further problems with it. I think anyone buying a new production BG380 now, can expect no issues with the laser....
