Hello S&W forum. I'm new to the site and have a bit of an issue, like a lot of .22 owners. I picked up my new 15-22 on jan 15 and have not been able to shoot it because of this ammo shortage. I've been looking everywhere to get ammo and the only luck i've had was with this food reserve place which has been lagging on shipping my ammo for 3 weeks now. Would anyone be interested in trading a 25 rnd mag/repair kit for .22LR ammo? This would really help me out, thanks in advance.

ps- not sure where to put a thread regarding a trade but i figured i'd start here.

If you look in the .22 ammo thread there's a good chance you can pick some up today. You have to be quick, but a lot has been popping up there recently.

there is an endless supply of .22 LR ammo being resold on gunsbroker.com at approx. $145 per 1,100, or $80 per 550,plus shipping. That is about 15 to 17 cents per round. Compare that to over $1.00 per round of .223 or any other center fire bullet, and you might find yourself jumping up and down with excitement at ONLY .16 per round.

If you aren't willing to spend 16 cents per round, then you are indeed stuck.

I was in the same position as you are. Got the rifle around Feb. 3, and on Feb. 8 bought 1,100 rounds of Federal Bulk Pack for $125 plus $20 shipping from gunbroker.com

So, it's not that it is unavailable, it is simply three times the cost it was a year ago. Or you could keep refreshing your screen every 60 seconds on the ammo thread... what is the value of a day of your time stuck at your keyboard hunting down 500 or 1000 rounds when even doing that, if you miss the post by two minutes, it's sold out?

This is a little like a situation we have here in Los Angeles with parking. YOu can circle the block for 30 minutes waiting for a free parking spot to open up, or just pull right up to the lot or Valet and pay $6. Time and aggravation with no money vs. no time, no aggravation, plus money. Your choice.

I think the ammo situation might be getting better soon. I just finished the Slidestock and 3 1/2" CMC trigger install on my MP15-22 and now hoping to arrange maybe some 48 month financing and low monthly payment plans on a brick of .22's to go and try my new toy out.

There are people buying .22 in the ammo thread today for far cheaper than that.
like I said, if you want be chained to your keyboard, refreshing every 60 seconds, and MAYBE get to the linked website before they're sold out... be my guest. I don't have an entire day to chase after a brick or two of .22. I'd rather just pay .16/rd including shipping from a flipper at gunsamerica.com

look at how many posts on the ammo thread list a link for availability, and two minutes later post SOLD OUT. You HAVE to be at your keyboard all day long to make that thread work.

I'll Trade

CARLOSMVET

I will trade you a box of CCI Tactical or mini-mags 325 count (your choice which) if you are still interested plus 200 (4 x 50 count boxes) of American Eagle or Federal 510(?) I use them all in my S&W M&P 15-22 without any problem. Seems like this would be a fair trade. That is provided you are saying a S&W 25 round mag. Not sure what a repair kit is?

I've managed to score 5.5K rounds of quality .22LR at ~$0.045/round w/ shipping on a couple of different purchases from leads in the ammo thread in the past few weeks just checking in a few times a day.

My job already has me chained to a keyboard w/ unrestricted internet access though so YMMV.

OK, since you say it is a S&M 15-22 mag 25 round OEM, I'm up for the trade if you are. Again, one box of either CCI Tactical or Mini-Mags count 375 plus 4 boxes of 50 count Federal 510. Send me a PM for contact information. I can ship in the morning from VA.

I'ver had mine for 4 weeks and it just sits in the gun safe waiting to be fed some ammo. :( Only problem is I also cannot find any at a reasonable price. I always seem to just miss out on gunbot and no local stores have any. Good thing I am patient....

Where in Cali... I have a box of 525 I could swap you. Always good to have spare parts.
