Have to ask... Kenny, what is that brass (copper?) round?

That's my Gratitude Rock.

Every time I see it or feel it in my pocket it reminds to be grateful for something I have in my life.

I'm going to drift off topic here for a minute. ;)

Back in April 2015 I had a procedure done call direct beam radiotactic stereo surgery to try and kill a cancerous tumor in my brain.

They molded this mask to fit my face and bolted my head down to the table so I couldn't move and the radiation machine moved around to treat the tumor from different angles. It is truly amazing what they can do these days.

In this picture they had made the mask and then did a brain MRI so they could place the targets on the mask. There's one on the lower right of the mask for the treatment procedure.

That evening I was having dinner with my girlfriend when she looked at me and asked, "Kenny, why are you in such a good mood??"

I looked at her puzzled and asked why shouldn't I be?

She said, "you have cancer in your brain, your lung, ribs, pelvis and a few other places".

I said "so".

She asked me if I had ever seen The Secret to which my reply was no.

She told me that my attitude was much like what they talk about and suggested I watch it.

So I bought a copy and watched it. In fact I've watched it several times.

They talk about being grateful for the good things in our lives and how important being positive is.

They talk about a Gratitude Rock so I decided that I needed to have one.

I live in a canyon where the Fremont Indians lived 1200 years ago.

There's a place leading to 100 Hands Cave where I imagined the Indians crossed the creek so that's where I got the rock. I've picked out Gratitude Rocks from the creek for a few close friends.

I pick one up and it if doesn't feel right I toss it back in until I find the right one. The Indians believe that the water flowing over the rocks washed away all the bad and help to purify.

Gratitude, attitude and hope. All three are crucial in living a good life.

Christmas day marked the 28th month of cancer free MRIs and ct-scans. I've had a few on my skin but we just cut those off. Its what's inside that counts.

I would suggest watching The Secret to everyone.

Sorry for the sidetrack.

Thanks Papa. I think people have more in their life to be thankful for than they realize.
