Congratulations, very nice gun. As I mentioned in your other post when you were thinking about buying it, it appears to have a modified front sight blade. I have a similar configuration on a model 27 and I like it a lot. If someone went to the expense to modify the sight, I wouldn't be suprized if they had the action smoothed too. And $400 is a good price. I have 4 L frame .357s and they're all good shooters and fun to shoot.

My favorite revovler of all time. Cant imagine every beign without at least one of these.

No there are no dash numbers on the gun, what do the dash numbers mean? I'm new to this and have just started to get the itch for revolvers over the semi-autos. Apparently this can be contagious. Now I want a Lew Horton .45 acp or a 325 Thunder Ranch.

Congratulations on your 586 find.
I love my two that I originally purchased
when they first came out in the early 80's.

586L-Frame.

Great looking 586. The dash numbers signify engineering changes. For instance, your gun without a dash number has a hammer mounted firing pin. Later guns have the firing pin mounted in the frame.

Very nice 586. I don't recall seeing one with a red inset Patridge site and I like it!

Mine has a red ramp.
