I join a few weeks back after ordering my first gun. Because it is going to be a range gun and maybe eventually I would like to get into some sort of competitions, I went with the Pro. Today was my third time to the range and put 150 rounds through some paper. I fired 100 each of my first two time out. I fricken love this gun. So much fun to shoot! I hope to contiunually improve, and maybe this summer do some steel challenges or IDPA, if I can fine some local to Cincinnati.

Also was thinking about taking lessons, any suggestions?

Lessons are always good whether you are a novice or a seasoned shooter. There are also decent you tube videos on technique out there. I would stick with the you tube videos from USPSA or from the big names in shooting, i.e. Rob Latham, Brian Enos, Jerry Miculek, etc. I have not shot IDPA but I shot USPSA/IPSC for years and we used to shoot, RO and do the scoring for the Steel Challenge when it was privately owned back in the 80's and 90's.

Congrads on the purchase. I also just purchased the 9mm Pro Series with the 5 inch barrel and must admit I love mine as well. I have only been to the range once with it. I had previously purchased a 9mm Shield and love it as well but can really notice the accuracy different between the two especially once I go to 15 to 25 yards. The Pro is defiantly more accurate.

I think you made a good first choice. To find matches locally, check out both the IDPA and USPSA websites (Steel Challenge is part of USPSA). They both have club and match finding applications. Contact a local club and they will not steer you wrong and you can probably find some recommendations for instruction as well. I shoot both (actually all 3 counting steel challenge) and it's all fun.
