My First Model 10-5. Grip Info Included.

First, thanks for such a great forum. I'm not real familiar with Smith & Wesson, so I've learned a lot here.

Last week I picked up my second S&W revolver. It's a Model 10-5. I've had it to the range once, and it's my new favorite to shoot. The previous owner had it on his nightstand for the past ten years. At some point it belonged to a correctional institution.

Would anyone know the approximate age of a Model 10-5 with serial number D9789XX?

Thanks for the compliment on the grips. They were put on by the guy I bought the Model 10-5 from. I'll find out next time I see him and post the make and model.

I'll tell you they feel great on that revolver.

The grips look like Ahrends retro combats...

Ahrends was my first thought also. Here's a photo of my only other S&W, a 686-4 4" with Ahrends K/L Square Butt, Cocobolo Retro Target with the hand rubbed oil finish.

Mystery solved. They are Eagle Secret Service grips. Web site is Eaglegrips.com
