I finally purchased a Model 29 today. It is a -3 with six inch barrel. I've been wanting one for a long time and came upon one locally.

Nice gun.
These -3s, like all 29s, are great shooters.
Interesting that it has the "football" cutout stocks.
Most of them I've seen have the "speedloader" type.
If you post the first few letters and digits of the serial number, we can help.

next on my wishlist is a nice S&W .357 to add to the collection.

Very nice 29
If you reload you can dial it in from mild to wild.

That's sure a beauty. Be sure and let us know how that tack driver shoots.

29-3

I have one, and it was probably my first as well. Mine is a nickel, the only nickel I own, and it is a wonderful gun. I measured the cylinder throats on mine with pin gauges, and shoot either that size LSWC's in hard cast, or a slightly oversize soft lead version of the same. It is an extremely accurate revolver-makes me look good! Congrats. Flapjack.
