My first reloads

I put together 10 test rounds using hornady 115gr XTP bullets. I am using once shot WIN brass, 3.9 gr bullseye and Winchester small pistol primer, COL 1.08".

I plan to shoot these in my MP 2. Shield 9mm and my MP 2 compact. I plan to test today.

Congratulations! I started reloading shotgun shells around 50 years ago. Don't any more. Started out with .38 specials as my 1st. handgun loads about 12 years ago.
Now am at .38, 9mm, .40, 45ACP, .44 magnum, and last but not least, 45 Colt.
There good data books out there. Good information on powder websites also.

I remember mine. When you fire them, are you going to go hug a tree with you on one side and the gun on the other? Not saying whether I did or didn't do that . . . .

I had not planned on hugging a tree, might look funny at the range i just joined. Data is straight from hornady, I am confident i loaded them correctly.

XTPs, I've found, to be one of the most accurate bullets out there. Good luck.

Crimp looks good, though you may be a bit light for a shield. Smaller guns often need midrange & up, especially with lighter bullets.

Looks good Akoda. Welcome to a fun part of our sport. I'm also a fan of XTPs but they are hard on the wallet.

The XTP s came free when buying a press or die set.

Seems my first rounds functioned as intended, they cycled each pistol with no issue each time. I used a 115gr RN as my round to compare, only 115s i have. Nothing looked unusual with spent brass. I'll turn up the powder load a few grains to the next stage in my hornady manual and give them a go.

Did you plunk test them? I have 3, 9mm pistols I reload for and the plunk test in one serves the other two quite well, no failures to feed in 17 years...

I did plunk test on my shield, I had made a bunch of dummy rounds, no primer and no powder to test feed through magazine, and eject too. At that time dies were locked down.

There was no tree near me to do that, but I wore a gardening glove, knelt down, stuck the gun up as high as I could and pointed it downrange, and turned my head away. .38 Special loads. I'm about to load up my first .223 and I'm sure I'm going to bench the rifle, kneel down under the table, and pull the trigger.

Congratulations, and great job. Reloading will be sure to add much enjoyment to your shooting interests. I don’t think that I would enjoy the sport as much if I didn’t reload. It is something like fly fishing and fly tying with me...they go hand in hand and it is almost like a religion for me where I only fish with the flies I tied.
