Hey guys, I'm so excited at owning this incredible revolver. I got it yesterday and have not shot it but the craftmanship is mind blowing. I got the pro series 4 inch barrel. It came with the rubber grip, I would like to as if any one recommends a good website where I can buy wood grips for this 627.

Congratulations on the revolver and Ahrends grips are nice as are S&W N Target grips which you can find on EBay. S&W also sell new styled N Frame target wood grips on their website. Hogue also makes wood grips so you have lots of choices.

If you didn't know your gun is an N frame, round butt you will need to know this when grip shopping.

That being said I have the traditional "coke bottle" style grips like Smith used from the 60's and 70's that I got right from their web site.

Eagle grips make some real nice grips as well. Happy shopping and congrats on your purchase, I love mine

congrats on an awesome revolver. I also have 1 I bought it 4 years ago and its my favorite revolver great trigger, sights, and it takes moonclips plus holds eight rounds you will love it when you shoot it.

Not like you need any eye candy on this 627, but here's a pic of one I owned a year or so ago - and I've been seriously pondering getting another!

With either using its own moon clips, 8-shot speed-loaders such as those shown from 5-Star (Thunder Ranch used to have a loader, too, and there may be others), and/or 8-shot Quick-Strips from Tuff Products, your 627 Pro is one high-firepower wheelgun. Mine always got attention on the range.

Agreed. I went through all brands for my PC 627 when hunting for grips. While I really do like Hogue and Altamont grips (great customer service and own grips from both companies), its Ahrends that fit my 627 the best. I believe these ones I got are the round butt Tacticals. They just fit my hand very well and was pleasantly surprised how good they looked in person.. the stock photos that Brownells used made me a bit worried in the beginning.

Here are my 627 Pro with Bang! Jerry Miculek grip and PC627 UDRs with Ahrends retro targets and rounded grips, both in cocobolo:

Also shown is the 5starfirearms.com speedloader and 2 x 8 loading plate, both in aluminum. The grips are available from Brownells.

Candy, welcome to the forum and congratulations on your 627. You have some excellent recommendations for replacement stocks on your gun, which I predict will become one of your favorite possessions -- if it hasn't done so already. :D

I don't have a four-inch 627, but like Stainz I have two of the 2 5/8" UDRs. I just left the stock boot grips on mine, but I acknowledge they are a little small. I will probably adorn mine with the same wood he has on his. You can get these, or a slightly longer version, from the S&W store if you are interested. I think the Ahrends stocks are a little wider and fit the hand better. My hands are only medium size, but I like the wider grips with increased palm swell.

I'm having an espresso as I write this, so in honor of waking up again here is a photo of one of mine with my liquid stimulant of preference.

Thanks guys, great looking grips you got! That expresson mini is a beauty!!!! must be proud to own that little guy :D

My 2 5/8" PC627 UDRs are both now gripped with the Performance Center grip shown below on one of my revolvers below. They are SKU #414170000 @ ~$50 + s/h from S&W Accessories. They are a tad larger than the OEM Eagle boots - welcome here due to my medium+ sized hands.

I tried the above PC Shop grips on my 4" 627 Pro - they didn't feel as good as the Ahrends retro targets, much less as good as the Jerry Miculek monogrip shown on my 627 Pro in my earlier posting - which it sports now. It makes transition from my similarly gripped & sighted 625JM to the 627 Pro easier. It's fine for the hottest load I employ in a .357M - my PD Remington R38S12 158gr LHPSWC in .38 Special +P. It's also fine for rapid dispatch of rebounding steel plates with my homebrew 125gr JHPs @ 900 fps from it's 4" tube in both .38 & .357M cases. Delightful plinker! Enjoy your 627 Pro - it's a keeper!!

Thanks, do you happen to know the difference between a Performance Center and Pro Series revolver?

Performance Center guns are Smith's top of the line. They also do custom work on customers' guns. The Pro Series are factory guns made with upgraded parts. I have a 627 Pro that I really enjoy. The trigger is super slick and the pull is very short because of the 8 shot cylinder.
