My Glorious Model 10-10 Money Pit

BTW, may I ask about the loads in the cylinder. Headstamp looks like S&W +P. Older loads, yes? Something like I use. ;)

Good work and good shooting.

Hi. Thank you for the kind words.

The ammo is modern 38 +P, Remington HTP, 158 gr. LWSC. It's not as high velocity as the old "FBI load" but the accuracy is really great and recoil mild in this size gun.

It's also reasonably priced locally at about $30 for a 50 round box, instead of the usual 20 rounders.

Congrats on a super wheel gun. You certainly had a great vision what to do with this project- am impressed.

The old Model 10's do look good with wooden grips. Putting a fiber optic sight on the old gun helps make up for one its original limitations, plain black iron sights up from and a sight groove in the rear.

They are fine revolvers in their original setup (I have a ex-Victoria police Mdl 10-10, and it is accurate as can be) but bringing them up to date a bit is fine, too. The K frame remains on the nicest revolvers based on its size and balance, too.

Smiling, as I imagine a Smith and Wesson forum, maybe even this one still, fifty years in the future where a bunch of S&W enthusiasts are ogling your nice custom job and theorizing about its origins.

Beautiful gun! I've been eyeing a Model 10 lately. I carried a model 64 for my first few years of LE service. There is something about a S&W 38!

Money pit?? My wife has a 2007 chevy impala that's a money pit. We've already spent over 2 grand on that car this year and the darn thing is broken down in our driveway right now. But that model 10 looks far from broken down. That's the kind of money pit I could live with. Nice gun!

Holster maker

Send me a message if you'd like. I got scolded once for posting a holster-maker here...

You can't put the name of a holster maker on your posting but everybody in the world can list every stock maker in the country. I'm not understanding this. I see leather goods makers discussed all of the time.

Somebody help me out with this.
