Stopped into the LGS and down at the bottom of the case, past used black plastic was this sweet old girl. I asked the clerk to see the model 10. She said, "which one is that?". Looking it over I determined it hadn't been fired, or of it had been I couldn't tell. No top strap mark, no internal cylinder marks, just the telltale cylinder turn line of 45 years of lookyloos. "Box", I ask. "Nope". "But I can give you a new S&W box". Sigh (but that was nice).

I'll take it I say.

Need it. Nope. Want it. Yes. Shooting it. Tomorrow .

Oh, BTW. $299.99. I know we all like that info. Also, it dates to 1971. Oh, the grips serial to the gun and there really isn't even a mark on it. What looks like barrel tip wear in the pic is reflection.

Like the Colt 1911, everyone should have a Model 10-5. And a 2-inch J Frame. And a Browning Hi Power. And a CZ75B. And a Glock 19. And a Ruger 22 Auto. And a SIG M11. And a PPK. :)

You nailed it with this statement. I currently own a Colt LWC, a BHP, S&W 10-5/10-6/10-8, five 2" J frames, two Glock 19s, a Sig P228, a Walther PP. I have had two CZ75s, four Ruger semi-autos, and three PPK and PPK/s pistols. I will add everyone should also own a 4" N frame.

I've been to Seaside!

Quahogs on the beach. Saw the biggest spruce in the world. Great place! going to Brookings in October. Pretty country.

Very nice fine. I recently added a Model 10-5 w/6" barrel to my collection. A Model 10 is absolutely a must have.

Okay. You forced me to post this. ANIB Model 10-5, purchased at an estate sale last year for $420. Dates to 1968.

Model 10

Who says every S&W revolver nut needs a Model 10 ( and an HP as well);) Bought this nice shooter ( a 10-5 from 1965) a while back for $250. About 95%, but she needs a set of PC magnas.:)

S prefix M&P with 5" barrel. From 1947.

Don't you get me started on those! I don't have time to take a couple dozen photos today . . . :(

That's a pretty nice one, with a 5" barrel (my favorite). It needs a set of period stocks, though. :)

I love those skinny barrel Model 10s!!! They are one of my sought after guns. They just look cool. Actually, they're very good SD guns that one can carry all day without any difficulty.

Cheers to all of you who sent the pics. Makes me want one all the more!

I know. I know. However thank you. It was a lucky find at a local pawn shop. Found out later that a local collector had sold off most of his S&W revolver collection. Guess he was a victim of the economy. A few months later I picked up another of his pieces. A four screw K-38 Target Masterpiece.

great find! there was one local but had to let it go. they wanted 300 about a year ago I saw a 4 inch dash 5 almost pristine condition with box 450. I didn't have money then either and didn't know as much about em as I do now

A great find for sure. Shooters/beaters bring $300 in my area. I paid just a tad more for my 10-5 in similar condition. I have found these Smith and Wessons to be a lot like Lay's potato chips - you can just have (eat) one!

Congratulations on a truly rare find these days and at a price that is below market for sure.

I just put 100 rounds through mine on Sunday.. What a fun gun to shoot.
Just dreaming here ..wouldn't be cool if someone made the same size and style grips that came on the model 10 but with finger grooves..
I've looked at some after market finger groove grips and they all just look to big for the gun.
I think the model 10 is a well balanced gun and to but standard size finger groove grips on it..just looks like a boat anchor..

What a deal! Have the exact same piece, wouldn't sell it for TWICE what you paid!
