Today I picked up this heavy barreled model 10-6. It is a shooter grade service weapon that has seen lots of holster time but has excellent timing lockup, and bore. I admire the pristine queens so many people have and show here, but I have a real soft spot for a grizzled working gun that has earned it's keep. The old girl had a parkerize like finish that has work plenty through the years. It was used overseas and imported back into the states. Pachmayr grippers replace the original grips. There is an R and a C stamped on the crane as well as what looks like the playing card club symbol. The serial number is C975134. It may be ugly but it functions like new, I got it for $200.00 so I didn't steal it but for a tight good functioning shooter in todays market I feel pretty good about it. What do you think.

Doc you did well - what's not to like. I can afford more of the shooter grade and enjoy them. Yes I do covet many a beauties that grace these pages, but this one has worked and lived - oh, if it that gun to tell of it's travels.

I think you did VERY WELL. I can respect the love for a NIB Beauty, there is something special about a strong gun that has seen a full life and has been repected (e.g. no rust). Quite frankly I would have plunked that much down too.

Great job and thanks for sharing.

Very nice gun to my eyes!! Lots of history there, exported, imported back. It probably has quite a few interesting stories attached to it...it's wear is like a badge of honor to my way of thinking, thanks for sharing.

I really like the worn quality. It's got character. The grips though are a little to nice and modern. I think that if you added grips of the period-- nice worn Magnas-- you'd match the character of the gun.
Just a thought. You got a great deal on it.

I have a set of RCMP diamond magnas, that like this old brute have seen a good service life and come home to rest. I put them on last night to have a look, and was very pleased. I may keep them on it till I come up with a set of appropriate magnas. Thanks for all the input.

I have a somewhat worn but solid pair of diamond magnas for sale in the "accessories" section. Let me know if they might work for you. Congrats on your find. I'd buy every one like that I came across at that price (till I ran out of money or my wife found out).
