My LE Trade-in 6906: Thoughts and impressions

I had a complete action job done on my 6906. The original trigger was 14 pounds. Had it reduced to 7 DA and 4 SA. Also replaced all the springs with a wolf reduced power spring set. I would recommend you replace the springs routinely they compress and lose power. I also polished the finish I didnt like the anodized lower frame. Im going to trim the finger guard off the magazine it doesnt need it and prints. Went to the range to try out the action job and I would put this gun against anything new.

The idea of a nice clean.......and inexpensive 6906 LE trade in appeals to me. If nothing else as a range tiy to keep the wear and tear off my other pistols.

I'm pretty sure they've still got some left at "std law" (sounds like a law firm with an interesting specialty, doesn't it?).

I just ordered my IWB holster for it last night. I'm debating whether to mill down the slide release a little bit, but it will probably just make itself a nice groove in the leather holster backing, anyway.

I've got one from LCSO - whatever sheriff's office I'm guessing that might be - and have been very satisfied. It's been frankengunned (quelle surprise) with a 915 slide for the "short butt/long slide" effect, and a flat-plate magazine to complete the effect. It *does* stick out a bit more than my 3913, and quite frankly the single stack just feels better in my hand, but it's in the carry rotation any time I'm wearing slightly heavier cover garments. Backed up by a pair of spare 5906 mags with Xgrip adapters, it's just fine. :D

I was also a little disappointed in the CS9, after searching for one for a few years. It's a nice shooter, but I expected it to be smaller somehow, and to be about the perfect CCW. After a little range time and a few weeks of carry, I decided the 3913 still filled that role better.
The CS9 is almost exactly the same size /weight as the new single stack Glock 43 is ( yes I have side by side compared them) so it's a pretty darned compact and light pistol.
I also own a 3914 and 6904 and can tell you the little CS9 carry's like a dream. I carry the CS 9 more than any pistol I own ( work in a Pawn shop open carry every day). It shoots well is rock solid reliable and is the lightest most comfortable to carry of my lot ( 1066, 5943, Shorty .40, 3914, 6904 ect).

My 6904 was a re-imported former LE pistol. out of the 10 a local shop got mine was the most holster worn ugliest of the lot however---.
Every time I picked it up it just felt tight and right and when I pulled the slide showed absolutely NO wear in the finish on the slide rails or anywhere else internally. Had to be a security guards gun as it has a good bit of visible holster wear but no internal wear and had a very very low round count.
Lights out shooter that will eat anything you throw in it!

Mine is also LCSO marked. Condition seems to be about the same as MWater's.

I've only put one mag through it so far; i haven't been to the range so I shot it in my backyard (I live on the outskirts of an unincorporated little townlet, so it's legal to shoot, I just want to be courteoud and not just blaze away).

I was quite happy with how it shoots. I shot about half of the rounds DA, and the pull is smooth enough that it was easy to keep both the DA and SA shots hitting the same place.

No hiccups, of course, although it as hardly a torture test.

I like this gun a lot. It pokes out a bit with the fat grip and the thumb rest lip on the mag prints a bit, but it's not bad. I'm looking at getting a 3913 too, just to see how the pack of three carry and shoot for me. In a perfect world I could keep all three, but I'll probably try them all for a while, then keep my one or two favorites. Keep an eye out in the classifieds! ;)

Right now my suspicion is that whatever gets sold won't be this guy.

For that price it seems prudent to wait and spend an extra 50 for one of the used one's that comes relatively often

I tried to contact this company and they have yet to get back to me about this gun.

I walked into my LGS tonight and he threw this on the counter for me. I wasn't looking for a 6906 but the price was very good..and the condition was vey good..so it's mine now. I had one before but it had the 2nd gen rear sight instead of the low mount Novak's and with my aging eyes I had a hard time picking up the front sight. This will remedy that. I may carry it after I have tested it well for reliability. If not it will be a fun range gun.
Not a LE Trade in.. but it's likely from a local person.

Great scores on the 6906's. I put a 915 safety on mine and it carries IWB more comfortable than my Glock 19. Flat base plate on the mag helps with printing.

I have a couple of Shorties that I haven't shot much but my EDC is a 6904 RTG with a single sided safety replacing the stock ambi safety...smooths out the exposed side when carried.

I have M&P's but my choice is always my 6904. I shoot it well and it has never ever failed in any way. I did recently acquire a 539 that with the steel frame is an absolute dream to shoot...as heavy as a full size 1911 and shoots 9mm so smooth it's unbelievable.

Carry it.....some day someone will ...... might as well be you!!!!!!

I've carried my unmarked ( except for the PC logo) PC compact (reverse two-tone) 9mm since 1996/97....never even thought about it being collectible in 25 years.

The past 20 years have dulled the mat slide and frame with a little honest wear on the high spots/edges....all of which only adds character .....carried concealed with a cover garment the gun is well protected from the elements, chair arms and other furniture........VPC00xx has spent more time on my belt.... except for my early 3913NL w/ Hogue checkered wood grips..... than any other gun I own!!!!

Edit: FWIW just noticed mine has a 2 line address; "Smith & Wesson".....over ....... Springfield. Ma. U.S.A." in a smaller font.
Also a longer beavertail than EngineGuys.....mine is more like lumps's

Well, I just ordered one of these. Price is up to $275, but with tax and shipping plus FFl on my end I'm looking at about $340. Not bad for a 6906 with 3 mags. Man, I have owned so many 3rd gen's. Some real beauties too. A few with boxes and docs. 3913's, 6906's, 5903's, 5906's, 915's, CS9's. Traded them all away to get something else, but always liked the features of them. I have a Ruger SR9 as my house gun now, specifically because of the manual safety and mag disconnect, but still not a huge fan of the striker guns, although I'm keeping the SR9 because I shoot well with it.

I'll break it down and clean it up and get the pics up when it arrives. This one will not go away. The prices just keep going up. I bought a perfect 3913 in box with documents in 2004 for $325. Flash chromed trigger and hammer. I sold it in 2012 for nearly $700. I do miss it, though.
