My LGS called today and said that my Shield came in, I cancelled it.

I can speak from experience, i have both the 9mm and the 40. I just got back from the range, today alone i put 400 rounds through my 9mm and 200 rounds through the 40. I would have done more but prices are expensive for ammo. In all i've put around 2 thousand through my 9mm without even one problem. The 40 has around 800 rounds through it, and also has had no problems. The only thing i don't like about the 40 is the recoil, it's not bad at all just a little snappy. I do like the 9mm more for that reason alone.

The web is full of dung. There is/was a member here named after his favorite gun...this member touted it as being the best gun EVER...for months he went on and on. Telling people they HAD to buy one. Then one day we find out he hadn't put ONE SINGLE ROUND THROUGH HIS!

Take everything you read for what its worth.

BTW, I bought a Shield when they were pretty new to the market. Mine did have problems. It went back to S&W for 3 weeks. They fixed it for free. Now, after months and 1000's of rounds without a hitch I have no problems carrying the Shield everyday.
