I really appreciate the recent threads on hunting. For the longest time,it seems,there appeared to be little interest in what is probably the most closely-related sport to our commom interest in guns. I'm glad to see that changing. I'm sure that many of the metro-area guys have little interest,but for most of us,it is an integral part of our lives. With that said,I'd like to show y'all a few pics of my hunting property adjacent to the Lynches River in Lee County,SC. I would very much like to see yours as well. I've been a lot of places and seen a lot of beautiful country,but for me,this is my little slice of heaven.

These pics were taken recently,so I can't show you the green fields of soy beans and corn,most of which has been harvested and replanted in winter crops. The land down here is flat as a fritter and some of the fields we hunt in the early season will allow you to test your long-range shooting capabilities.

We plant winter food plots for the critters as well wih most being a mix of wheat,turnips,lab-lab and various other legumes. They,of course are much smaller and more easily maintained with the limited equipment that we have.

If you look closely,you can see one of our stands just right of center in the above pic.

After September,I usually start hunting roads or woods,particularly swamp bottoms.

The property is pretty diverse,as you can see. We also have several ponds and river landings similar to the ones seen here.

Only a short distance through these trees is a thirty-five acre beaver pond that used to be home to THOUSANDS of wood ducks. Over the years,the timber has fallen and now provides us with adequate,and sometimes spectacular,hunting for greenheads,geese and the occasional black duck or pintail. We always get the fall migrations of teal,gadwall,buffleheads and the like.

This little pothole is practically in the clubhouse yard and once through it,the "big pond" opens out (wish I had a pic of it).

As I said,the property is adjacent to the Lynches River and a long stretch of it has been designated a National Scenic River. Our 2.6 miles of river frontage is included in this stretch. Years ago,we built this little shack to take the kids for an overnight outing. It is now often used by folks taking canoe trips as a pullout point and rest stop. We often find thank you notes left on the front door.

My serious hunting days are behind me, but I still appreciate the woods, fields, and water. I am lucky enough that I have had access to some wonderful upland game (Bobwhite Quail, when they were plentiful) and whitetail deer hunting on private land all my life.

Thinking today of our Thanksgiving traditions. Up early to hunt deer. Home by 10 to get ready for Dinner. Out with the dawgs for a couple of hours by 3:30 or 4. Lots of hunting the remainder of that weekend. Now, I am thankful for those memories.

Thank you for sharing all the great pictures. As a transplanted PA boy I sure miss the hunting especially around Thanksgiving as that was the winding down of our small game and it was time to tend to deer stands and rifles.
You have a magnificent place there.

Thanks for showing us these pictures, that looks like a gem of a piece of land. I am jealous! I enjoy hunting a lot, and though my Dad hunted as a boy growing up in a small town in Utah, Vegas didn't offer much to hunt. He went out of his way though when I came of age to take me deer hunting back in Utah, it was a time to spend with family and also camp with his boys. Nowadays my little brothers don't go, so he doesn't. I could never get him to hunt more than deer no matter how hard I begged. Now that I'm my own man, I do Deer, Dove, Pheasant, Coyote, and my favorite Elk. My father-in-law tags along most of the time, he is a good hunting buddy. Though I can't get him to try anything like Bear or Cougar with me haha, I can't get anyone!!
