During the course of life you come to realize what comes first. Me and my wife went through some hard times and the first thing to go was the guns, sad thing was that I had to get rid of my very first smith, a 657. But now that we are older and through the Lords blessing of new jobs, I have finally been able to gain back some of what I lost. Actually about ten fold in my opinion. I am now the proud owner of a model 66-2 and a 629-2. The two magnums I've always wanted. Of course ill post some pics but please if you don't mind, give me some opinions on the value so I can get an idea if I came out ahead

$700 for the 66 and $800 for the 629 would be pretty good in this area, quick sale would be a bit less. If you paid less than $1400 you did well.

I bought them sepretley in the past two months, I paid 700 for the 66 and 775 for the 629. The thing about the 66 is that it came with the original box and paperwork

Nice pair of revolvers and beautiful grain on the stocks of the 66. Glad you were able to get back on your feet.

The real measure of a gun's worth is what it is worth to you. It sounds like these two guns were something you really wanted, and having them makes you happy, so I'd say you got a great deal no matter what anyone else says they are worth.

Besides that, in my neck of the woods, those two would be about $2K.

Their value in the end has to be what you are willing to pay for them. Unless you got caught up in a bidding war (which apparently was not the case) buying guns you want really comes down to looking at the market and getting what you want when it comes around (and you can spare the $$$) Based on this, I personally think you did fine for the two you got as they are desirable, fast moving models. Most importantly, it seems you are now in a situation where you can actually enjoy them... Congratulations!

Congrats!!! Thank you for sharing your story as I can relate. Money is so tight around here. Lots of health issues in our family and it's been rough. And I've been selling guns these last few years to make ends meet. I'm glad things are looking up and thank you for acknowledging God's hand in your life.

Beautiful revolvers.
