I have an off site arrangement in a vault which makes a man cave impossible for me. Plus, it's not practical, either. Which makes access to firearms often impossible in a timely fashion.
But, unless I'm fabulously wealthy with my own security detail, I see no other affordable and practical arrangement.
While these man caves are certainly admirable, the three culprits of fire, theft, and (the excessive cost of) insurance are not addressed.
A gun room like Teddy Roosevelt's at Oyster Bay was a very juvenile goal, and then I grew up and realized those are only available to folks like Teddy Roosevelt. And then, had I been that fabulously successful, the more practical side of me would have said this makes no sense whatsoever—due to the risks of fire (or flooding), theft, and the rising cost of insurance.
I hate to be a spoilsport—and really don't want to be in this case.
